• Systems Engineer III

    TEKsystems (Herndon, VA)


    TEKsystems is partnering with a client looking for a Controls Engineer in Herndon, VA.

     

    This role will manage the scope, schedule, budget, and execution of building management (BMS) and electrical power monitoring system (EPMS) improvement projects. You will assist with procurement activities, attend project meetings, and provide regular updates to stakeholders. Responsibilities include supporting commissioning activities, troubleshooting and refining control sequences, and developing or modifying control logic and user interfaces. The position requires managing multiple stakeholder requirements, overseeing service contracts, and visiting local data centers to supervise work and ensure compliance. You will also train internal teams on BMS and EPMS systems, provide technical support throughout the data center lifecycle, and address maintenance issues promptly.

    Basic Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering field plus 5 years of controls experience, OR 10 years of relevant experience without a degree.

    + 5+ years working with industrial controls in critical environments (e.g., data centers, pharma, oil & gas).

    + 4+ years of project or vendor management experience, including RFPs, bidding, and quality control.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Master’s degree in Engineering or Controls/Automation.

    + Experience with HVAC controls or electrical SCADA systems, programming, and troubleshooting.

    + Familiarity with protocols like MQTT, BACnet, and MODBUS.

    + Ability to interpret engineering documentation and manage complex stakeholder requirements.

    + Professional Engineer (PE) or PMP certification is a plus.

    This is a Contract position based out of Herndon, VA.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $75.00 - $80.00/hr.
