Responsibilities

+ Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal laws and regulations.

+ Ensure compliance with company safety environmental and health policies.

+ Maintain clean and safe work areas in line with GMP and sanitation policies.

+ Recommend and implement process or plant changes to enhance safety and quality.

+ Develop and manage the tooling budget and departmental metrics.

+ Oversee all tooling activities and set priorities for these groups.

+ Minimize equipment downtime due to tooling breakdowns.

+ Manage expenses for tool shop and make recommendations for capital needs.

+ Evaluate down-time and efficiency reports.

+ Drive process improvements.

+ Manage daily activities of the tooling department to balance staffing, workflow, and eliminate bottlenecks.

+ Coordinate work with outside contractors and ensure the completion of all assigned projects.

+ Collaborate on capital projects to ensure requirements are met and budgets are adhered to.

+ Set weekly and monthly priorities and schedules for the tooling team.

+ Collaborate with vendors on new technology and coordinate vendor/supplier activities.

+ Enhance the skills of tooling employees through training, development opportunities, and coaching.

+ Conduct annual performance reviews for tooling employees and identifying training needs

Qualifications

+ Minimum of five years maintenance group lead or supervision experience in a tooling environment

+ High school diploma / GED equivalent

+ Certified Journeyman Toolmaker required

+ Proven ability to lead, motivate and direct employees.

+ Knowledge of mechanical systems, excellent troubleshooting capability and proven ability to apply that knowledge

+ Strong organizational skills with proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

+ Excellent communication and team building skills required

+ Ability to lead, motivate and direct employees in a positive manner to drive results

+ Excellent negotiating ability

+ Must have excellent industry knowledge.

+ Proficiency in basic computer programs, spreadsheets, word processing, and data bases.
