Position Overview:

HM Cragg is an 100% employee-owned company with an extremely impressive growth history. As an Apprentice Electrician, you will be responsible for installation, maintenance and repair projects of electrical systems and components specifically focused on the Telecommunications, Wireless, Utility and UPS markets.

Reporting Relationship: The Apprentice Electrician will report to the Service Manager

Responsibilities/Accountabilities

• Ability to take direction from Journeyman Electrician

• Perform skilled electrical work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems

• Perform the installation of transformers, control boards, electronic circuits, coils, circuit breakers, voltage regulators, switches, fuses, and related electrical equipment

• Perform installations of backup generator systems

• Determine modifications required when obstructions are met while installing electrical systems

• Read electrical blueprints, plans, and schematics.

• Develops strong line of communication with Electrical Manager/Master Electrician and within all departments utilizing electrical service

• Ability to work from wiring diagrams, schematics, sketches, blueprints, and/or verbal instructions

• Proficient in the use of standard electrician's tools and measuring/testing instruments such a multi-meter

• Perform other duties and assignments as necessary

Skills/Knowledge

• Strong knowledge of AC and DC circuits

• Knowledge of electrical principles, applications, techniques, procedures, code and equipment

• Knowledge of local and national electrical code

• Excellent communication and customer service skills

• Excellent attendance record

• Demonstrates proper use of material handling equipment

• Proactively stays up to date on safety training, compliance and knowledge of HAZ MAT and DOT requirements

• Adheres to company policies as stated in the Employee Handbook and Safety Policy

Travel expectations

• Up to 75% depending on customer needs

Qualifications:

• High school diploma

• Minimum 2-years Electrical degree or equivalent experience preferred

• Ability to work at various heights

• Ability to lift items greater than 25lbs (and up to 150 lbs.) repetitively on a regular basis

• Ability to maintain a valid driver's license

• Must pass a physical exam, background check and pre-employment drug screening
