    The Software Engineering Manager is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of meaningful applications, working closely with product and engineering teams, as well as stakeholders and business owners. As a manager, you will be leading engineers who support a digital environment focused on delivering value for Ford and its customers, with a strong emphasis on robust technical project management and comprehensive quality assurance.

     

    What you'll do...

     

    + Oversee technical project planning, including scope definition, resource allocation, timeline management, and proactive risk mitigation for subscription features and services.

    + Coordinate cross-functional teams (engineering, product, design, QA) to ensure seamless execution, clear communication, and on-time delivery of high-quality software solutions.

    + Define and implement comprehensive quality assurance strategies and testing frameworks across the engineering lifecycle.

    + Drive the adoption of advanced QA practices, including test automation, performance, and security testing, to ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of our services.

    + Guide the design, development, and delivery of complex software solutions.

    + Continuously improve platform performance, maximize development efficiency, and maintain high operational standards.

    + Champion software craftsmanship principles to enhance overall delivery capability and product quality.

    + Manage, mentor, and grow software engineers through regular coaching and performance feedback, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.

    + Collaborate closely with product, business owners, and customers to translate use-cases, pain points, and requirements into actionable technical plans.

    + Provide critical feedback on requirements, product designs, and architectures, ensuring feasibility, maintainability, and quality.

    + Establish strong relationships and knowledge sharing across partners, stakeholders, and teammates to eliminate silos and drive unified solutions.

     

    You'll have...

     

    + Master’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field

    + 8+ years of hands-on software delivery experience preferably in subscription services or cloud-based system development

    + 8+ years leading agile teams (Scrum or Kanban) shipping products with enterprise impact.

    + Demonstrated ability to oversee technical project planning, including scope definition, resource allocation, timeline management, and proactive risk mitigation.

    + Excellent communication skills; proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple initiatives.

    + Demonstrated ownership of critical systems and customer outcomes.

    + 5+ years in software operations, including source control, CI/CD, DevOps, SRE, observability, support/maintenance.

    + Proven experience in defining, implementing, and driving comprehensive quality assurance strategies and testing frameworks across the engineering lifecycle.

    + Hands-on experience with test automation, performance testing, and security testing methodologies and tools.
