This position facilitates the integration of vocational rehabilitation programming throughout the continuum of recovery by assisting residents assess pre-work preparation and readiness, develop self-awareness and confidence, acquire employment-related documents, identify employment goals, participate in work-related activities, prepare employment application materials, practice successful interviewing skills, conduct successful work searches, and secure and maintain competitive employment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Uses OASAS-VRES Work-Readiness Checklist to assess resident work-readiness.
• Regularly facilitates Vocational Skills within Recovery groups.
• Identifies residents’ employment-related experience as well as associated capacities and limitations.
• Helps residents identify their individual vocational rehabilitation goals and objectives.
• Develops individual vocational rehabilitation plans that are within each individual resident’s capacity to achieve.
• Coordinates services and maintains regular ongoing consultations with community partners.
• Consistently maintains working knowledge of current work-related activities (GED preparation programs, workforce development training programs, volunteering, etc.), disseminates relevant information to residents, and facilitates referrals as appropriate.
• Consistently maintains working knowledge of current employment opportunities and disseminates relevant information to work-ready residents.
• Assists residents develop work-readiness skills and acquire employment-related documents (e.g. birth certificate, social security card, photo ID, academic transcripts, resumes etc.).
• Provides case management of individual vocational rehabilitation plans for assigned residents.
• Meets with residents on a regular basis to monitor progress and revises individual vocational rehabilitation plans as necessary.
• Completes in-depth, accurate case notes on a regular and timely basis.
• Effectively communicates with CAZ Recovery program staff to support and integrate vocational rehabilitation planning with treatment plans and clinical interventions.
• Participate in weekly Vocational Program team meetings and program case conferences on a regular basis.
• Is mindful of and integrates Trauma-Informed Care and its five principles in all duties and interactions with fellow staff, residents, and external partners.
• Maintains compliance with all required rules and regulations including Federal Confidentiality (42 CFR, Part 2), HIPAA, Medicaid and/or HUD, and any others.
• Regular attendance at work location and travel to programs (must have reliable automobile).

Requirements
Preferred:
• Bachelor’s degree in counseling, psychology, sociology, or other related field with a minimum of two years of experience in the career counseling of individuals with alcohol/substance abuse disorders and/or individuals from other disadvantaged populations
Required:
• Associate’s Degree in Human Services or a related field and two years’ human services experience. Field placement as an intern may be applied to required human service experience.
• Must possess a valid New York State Driver’s license and reliable automobile
