Description We are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Santa Monica, California. This position focuses on overseeing the sales tax entity conversion process across multiple states to ensure compliance and accuracy. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational abilities and a proactive approach to managing complex tasks.

Responsibilities:

• Update state sales tax accounts to accurately reflect the new corporate entity, including closing accounts under the previous structure.

• Establish new sales tax accounts in compliance with state-specific requirements and ensure all necessary documentation is provided.

• Maintain detailed records and logs for correspondence with state agencies to support audits and internal tracking.

• Collaborate closely with accounting, legal, and finance teams to gather required paperwork and ensure seamless compliance.

• Analyze and communicate specific procedural requirements and timelines for each state jurisdiction.

• Deliver regular progress updates to company leadership, highlighting milestones and challenges.

• Ensure the transition process is carried out with minimal impact on ongoing business operations. Requirements • At least two years of experience in legal entity conversions and managing sales tax registrations or closures in the U.S.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.

• Excellent communication skills to coordinate across teams and external entities.

• Familiarity with corporate tax processes, including journal entries and general ledger management.

• Proven ability to work independently and meet demanding deadlines.

• Prior experience collaborating with accounting or tax professionals.

• Detail-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities.
