UMaine Auxiliary Enterprises is seeking Facilities Maintenance Worker CL1s to perform custodial tasks, primarily in residence halls. Be a part of the team that keeps our campus clean, safe, and welcoming for current and future students, faculty, staff and visitors. These are full-time, regular, position(s); 40 hours per week, 5 days per week. Starting pay is $17.80/hr.

Facilities Maintenance Worker CL1s (Housing Custodians) are responsible for cleaning campus residence halls and auxiliary buildings to include daily, weekly, monthly and other cyclical tasks, and assist with exterior tasks such as snow removal and sanding of building entrances and walkways. These positions play an important role in ensuring the health and safety of the campus community.
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
+ Employee operates cleaning equipment, uses cleaning chemicals and materials.
+ Performs heavy lifting in the removal of trash, moves furniture and equipment.
+ Shovels snow from building entrances and walkways.
+ May pick up litter within several feet of an assigned building.
+ Cleans fixtures, furnishings and facilities in and around campus buildings in accordance with departmental protocols.
+ Works alone or in groups.
+ Climbs ladders up to 12 feet to perform necessary work.
+ Develops and maintains professional relationships that reflect courtesy, civility, and mutual respect.
+ Performs other reasonable duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Required:
+ High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D).
+ Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work according to defined policies, procedures and standards.
+ Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and other University personnel.
+ Interpersonal skills sufficient to get along with coworkers, supervisors and building occupants.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team, as needed.
+ Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. regularly and perform other manual and physically demanding tasks.
+ Must be able to climb stairs, work with arms overhead, withstand temperature changes and shovel heavy snow throughout the workday.
+ Be capable of lifting and carrying equipment and materials up to 50 pounds for short distances, exerting force in excess of 100 pounds occasionally and be capable of standing for long periods of time and flexible enough for bending and reaching.
Preferred:
+ Ability to drive normally requiring a valid Maine driver’s license.
