Summary:

HII - Mission Technologies, is currently seeking a Training Specialist to support the National Security Space Institute (NSSI) at Peterson Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO.

What You Will Do:

The Training Specialist will teach various space-related courses, encompassing all activities required for the preparation, delivery, instruction, guidance, and assessment of courses and initiatives at the NSSI. The Training Specialist will also be responsible for developing all course materials, with Government concurrence.

What We're Looking For:

+ 10 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related field; 8 years with a Master's degree in a related field; or a High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 14 years of relevant experience.

+ Active DoD Top Secret clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI).

+ Proficient in presentation delivery, teaching modalities (including exercises, case studies, interactive lectures, etc.), and classroom management.

+ Experienced in Instructional Systems Design (ISD) product development (such as lesson plans, visual aids, and graded assessments), teaching modality development, and curriculum updates for in-residence, online, and blended courses.

+ Skilled in conducting course surveys and implementing improvements.

+ Master’s degree in a STEM or space-related field; or a Master’s degree in a national security-related or legal field; or an equivalent credential (e.g., Military Command and Staff College or War College).

Preferred Experience:

+ Ten years of teaching experience, including but not limited to service with the Space Force or other branches (Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force).

+ Familiarity with NSSI Learning Management Systems (Canvas and Echo360), online presentation tools, classroom management, and relevant teaching modalities.

+ Familiarity with NSSI file structures for online classes and video recordings.

+ Familiarity with the NSSI course catalog.

+ Strong communication skills.

+ Experience delivering classroom instruction at undergraduate and graduate levels, including elective courses.

+ Curriculum development using the Instructional Systems Design (ISD) process.

+ Escort and introduce visiting lecturers.

+ Ability to read, analyze, and critique student assignments.

+ Monitor, evaluate, tutor, counsel, grade, and provide comprehensive feedback on student exercises and exams.

+ Review all lesson materials to ensure compliance with ISD principles and Foreign Disclosure guidelines (as required).

+ Teach across NSSI in multiple courses within subject matter expertise and remain current on lesson content.

+ Support academic administration, including report compilation, contributions to strategic and long-range planning, assistance to project officers, and other duties as assigned by the Course Director.

+ Serve as Course Director when required.

+ Ensure all lessons within assigned areas align with course objectives and reflect current instruction, including relevant current events, technological updates, and academically credible content.

+ Develop, evaluate, manage, and implement courseware and curricula, including task analysis worksheets, lesson plans, syllabi, schedules, student visual aids, study materials, prerequisite materials, and ISD documentation.

+ Conduct research and study materials beyond NSSI lesson content.

+ Evaluate hardware and software to determine compatibility with current systems.
