The Charter School for Applied Technologies (CSAT) opened its doors in 2001 as a 700-student school serving grades K-6. Today, CSAT is a busy campus consisting of three distinct buildings (Elementary, Middle and High Schools), that host approximately 2,365 students from 19 different school districts throughout WNY.

Summary
The Superintendent serves as the Chief Executive Officer of CSAT, reporting directly to the Board of Trustees. The Superintendent is responsible for ensuring that the mission, vision, and values of CSAT are achieved through effective leadership, sound management, and a commitment to continuous improvement. As the instructional and operational leader of the school, the Superintendent oversees all educational programs, personnel, financial operations, compliance matters, and community relations to promote academic excellence and equity for all students.
Major Policy Responsibility
The Superintendent initiates and recommends policies for approval by the Board of Trustees and is responsible for implementing those policies across all operations. The Superintendent ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations and may delegate duties as appropriate while retaining ultimate accountability for results and decisions made on behalf of the school.
Standards and Elements Vision, Continuous Improvement, and Focus of School Work
The Superintendent shall establish a shared vision and focused plan for achieving school goals through collaboration, data-driven decision making, and measurable outcomes that support CSAT's mission of preparing students for college, career, and citizenship.

2. Implement improvement plans with clear, measurable goals.
3. Use data effectively to drive decisions and monitor progress.
4. Model and expect continuous improvement and innovation across departments.

Communication and Collaboration
The Superintendent shall establish and maintain effective communication systems with the Board of Trustees, school leaders, staff, families, and community partners.

Policies and Governance
The Superintendent ensures that all operations align with Board policies, charter requirements, and legal mandates. Fosters a strong and effective working relationship with the Board of Trustees.

1. Recommend and implement Board policies in compliance with charter and state law.
2. Provide regular updates and reports on policy effectiveness and implementation.
3. Prepare Board agendas and materials to support informed decision-making.
4. Advocate for students and uphold the school's commitment to equity and excellence.
Instruction and Academic Excellence
The Superintendent serves as the instructional leader of CSAT, ensuring that curriculum, instruction, and assessment systems are designed to support high levels of student achievement and equitable access to learning opportunities.
Representative Elements:
1. Ensure implementation of high-quality, standards-based curriculum and instruction.
2. Promote research-based best practices for teaching and learning.
3. Oversee the development of comprehensive assessment systems.
4. Provide professional development that aligns with school and state priorities.
5. Ensure effective use of technology to support instruction and engagement.
Resources and Organizational Management
The Superintendent allocates financial, human, and material resources equitably and strategically to advance the school's goals and ensure sustainability.
Representative Elements:
1. Prepare and manage the annual budget in compliance with New York State requirements.
2. Oversee staffing decisions, evaluations, and organizational structure.
3. Ensure safe, well-maintained facilities that support learning.
4. Direct strategic use of technology and resources to enhance operations.
5. Promote efficient systems that support teaching, learning, and accountability.
Qualifications
+ Active New York State School District Leader (SDL) certification
+ Minimum of 10 years of successful educational leadership experience, including at least 5 years in a senior administrative or superintendent role
+ Demonstrated success in advancing student achievement and managing complex educational systems
+ Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
+ Proven ability to lead in accordance with New York State Charter School laws, regulations, and accountability measures
Preferred Qualifications
+ Residency in the Western New York area
+ Active New York State School Building Leader (SBL) certification

+ Ability to manage multiple priorities under time constraints
+ Regular interaction with diverse stakeholders in educational settings
