As the Deaf and Hard of Hearing State Specialist for the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE), you will provide educational support and guidance to Minnesota's broader communities, with a concentration on students with disabilities, including low incidence disabilities and a specific focus on students who are deaf and hard of hearing, deafblind or with other disabilities associated with hearing loss.
Minimum Qualifications

Five (5) years of professional experience as a licensed teacher of the deaf and hard of hearing
OR
A bachelor's or master's degree and four (4) years of professional experience as a licensed teacher of the deaf and hard of hearing
Preferred Qualifications
+ Extensive knowledge of and experience with educational programming for students who are deaf, hard of hearing, deafblind or have hearing-related disabilities.
+ Demonstrated leadership in implementing and interpreting special education policy and practice, including a strong understanding of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Section 504 and relevant Minnesota state requirements.
+ Proven ability to collaborate effectively with community members and organizations, including school districts, interagency teams, families and advocacy organizations, to ensure a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE).
+ Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience representing an organization or agency in public forums, workgroups or cross-agency initiatives - especially in roles that require aligning work with strategic plans or statewide initiatives.
