Join our Advanced EV Development (ADVEV) team for a 6-month Student Worker Program and help build the future of mobility! Immerse yourself in Ford's center of innovation and growth, working alongside top engineering, design, and software talent to create groundbreaking EVs and contribute to key technologies like batteries, charging, and recycling. This is your chance to gain hands-on experience and make a real impact on the automotive industry.
The Drive Unit Inverter Product Design team is responsible for the design, prototyping, testing, and validation of a new generation of in-house power electronics to support Ford’s next generation of electric vehicle drive systems.
As a Mechanical Design Engineer on this team, you will be responsible for designing / executing tests, building prototype parts and tools, and working closely with your peers to help bring this new platform to life.
What you’ll do...
• Design and execute tests such as designs of experiments for processes and durability tests for design validation.
• Prototype new concepts and system architectures for next-generation drive unit inverters.
• Operate as a member of the core engineering team with the responsibility of executing projects that are critical to the success of this program.
• Execute complex projects from start to finish while working closely with cross-functional engineering teams.
• You will have access to experts in all domains related to electric propulsion and power electronics.
• You will have access to leading engineering tools and resources to design, prototype, and test hardware.
You'll have...
• Actively pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Hands-on experience designing, building, and testing hardware.
• Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD, Catia preferred) software.
Even better, you may have...
• Exposure to electric drive systems or power electronics.
• Experience executing designs of experiments.
• Experience designing and fabricating prototype tools and fixtures.
