JOB SUMMARY:
The LPC will provide therapeutic services in an outpatient setting. LPC will provide services to help minimize psychosocial stressors, also assess, diagnosis and educate patients with mental health, prevention, and treatment of psychosocial dysfunction, impairment, or disability, including mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders for individuals and groups. The primary role for the LPC will be to conduct patient interviews, assessments, set treatment goals, provide therapy, and arrange coordinating services with the treatment team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Diagnosing and providing treatment to individuals with mental disorders, substance use disorders, as well as various behavioral and emotional disturbances.
+ Coordinate activities with treatment team that is in the best interest of the patient.
+ Document timely and accurately in the patients Electronic Medical Record (EMR) on all services provided.
+ Able to complete paperwork accurately and thoroughly using clear, concise documentation.
+ Assure patient charts are complete, legible, and up to date while maintaining at least 90% or better quarterly chart review score.
+ Complete initial assessment of patients within three (3) working days of the referral for mental health services.
+ Develop initial treatment plan based on initial assessment and complete treatment plan updates as needed; assist patient throughout the plan.
+ Maintain a working relationship and involvement with other service organizations within the Greater New Orleans area.
+ Participate in general department meetings, treatment team, and case supervision meetings.
+ Develop documentation of patient discharge/transition plan when necessary.
+ Adheres to agency policies and office protocols at all times (work hours, voicemail, staff meetings, etc.).
+ Provide consultation to medical providers regarding the behavioral health components of a patient’s presentation. Develop collaborative plans to address symptoms.
+ Superior interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with patients, families, multi-disciplinary team members, department peers and community agency members.
+ Interact with clients, providers and staff in a professional, courteous and responsible manner.
+ Participates in clinical staff Peer Review process, including quarterly chart audit.
+ Must maintain confidentiality at all times.
+ Performs other duties as directed by supervisor.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:
+ Licensed Profession Counselor (LPC) as verified by the Louisiana State Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and able to engage in independent practice.
+ Must follow the guidelines as written in the Office of Health Policy Standards of Care and all third-party payer contracts.
+ Must satisfactorily complete a minimum of eight (8) hours of job-related educational programs/in-services annually, as determined by Agency personnel policy.
+ Ability to work productively and independently meets timelines, paying close attention to detail.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
+ Able to complete annual education requirements.
+ Able to treat patients and their families with respect and dignity.
+ Ability to provide crisis intervention as indicated.
+ Able to communicate appropriately and clearly with all staff.
+ Able to maintain regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) regulations.
+ Maintain and ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
+ Report to work on time and as scheduled.
+ Maintain a good rapport and cooperative working relationship with all staff.
+ Represent organization in a positive and professional manner.
+ Comply with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
+ Experience working in a culturally diverse, patient centered atmosphere
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
+ None
QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Must follow the professional, ethical, and occupational standards of the Louisiana State Board of Licensed Professional Counselors.
+ Must have sound interviewing and assessment skills and the ability to work effectively with staff members and/or patients of all socioeconomic, religious, gender and ethnic backgrounds.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
+ Must have a Master’s degree in Counseling from a school accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).
+ Must have completed two (2) years of clinical practice, computed at 3,000 hours, post-master’s degree experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
+ Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
+ Bilingual/Bicultural (English/Spanish) preferred.
+ Necessary technical skills to use electronic health records, incident reporting systems, email and other information systems.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
+ Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
+ Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
+ Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES/REGISTRATION:
+ Must have and maintain active/unrestricted licensure with the state of Louisiana as a Licensed Professional Counselor.
