Description
The Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine is seeking a skilled Database Administrator / Lead SQL Developer to help drive the next stage of growth for our Perioperative Data Warehouse (PDW) and expanded perioperative analytics programs, including research and predictive analytics initiatives. The PDW is a custom SQL data environment built to leverage UCLA's EPIC data for advanced quality improvement, operational optimization, and clinical research.
Reporting to the Director of Operations and the Chief Data Architect for the Center of Excellence for Perioperative Analytics, this role plays a key part in developing and enhancing the department's data infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings strong SQL development skills, technical problem-solving, and a passion for building scalable, high-impact data systems.
Key Responsibilities Include:
+ Developing and expanding the departmental SQL-based data warehouse, including writing SQL queries, procedures, and functions, and maintaining associated documentation and data assets.
+ Supporting high-level administration of the PDW-participating in Health System meetings, ensuring compliance with data governance requirements, managing access provisioning, and partnering with IT leaders on system enhancements.
+ Collaborating with faculty and staff to define data needs for approved projects, partnering with the Bioinformatics Division to scope requests, set priorities, and deliver accurate, meaningful data solutions.
+ Building and maintaining databases for multi-center research collaborations, integrating data from external sites, and ensuring ongoing data accuracy and integrity.Annual range: $86,400-$184,800Qualifications
Required:
+ BS/BA/MS/PhD in Computer Science and/or 2+ years programming experience in SQL and other languages, tools, and libraries, and or equivalent combination of education & experience.
+ Operating Systems (Windows Server, Windows 9, 10, 11, etc.), Relational Databases (SQL Server, Access, MySQL, PL SQL), Business Intelligence (SSRS 2008/2005, SSAS, SSIS, DTS, Tableau).
+ Strong written and verbal communications skills.
+ Ability to work well in a results oriented team environment and meet deadlines as needed.
+ Ability to develop reusable and modular code to be shared among development teams.
+ SSIS developer skills
+ Defining Variables and Parameters and incorporating them into Expressions within tasks
+ Deploy packages using Project deployment and Environment by connecting them to Project parameters
+ Design and create MS SSIS packages. Having experience in using most of the tasks in SSIS.
+ Programming experiences in multiple languages and tools, including C#, Python, TSQL, Reporting Services, Data Transformation Services and Integration services, Visual Studio, Adobe Acrobat, and XML, R.
+ Proficiency in SQL Server, T-SQL programming, Reporting Services, and SharePoint: design tables and indexes, design and deploy T-SQL queries, functions, store procedures, reports, and SharePoint sites.
+ Experience in application development, integration, and support across a variety of relational databases.
+ Expertise in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and email communications and protocols and communication software.
+ Ability to complete work accurately and in a timely manner under workload and deadline pressures.
+ Ability to analyze complex technical and administrative information to identify relevant concerns, to recognize alternatives, to formulate logical and objective conclusions, and to communicate these with users and management.
+ Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
