POSITION DETAILS
Founded in 1971 in Long Island City, Queens **,** LaGuardia Community College is one of seven community colleges of the City University of New York (CUNY). LaGuardia offers more than sixty associate degree programs and more than fifty workforce training, ESOL, GED, and pre-college programs. In 2023, LaGuardia served approximately 24,000 students. More than one-third of LaGuardia’s degree-seeking students are born outside the United States; they come from 136 countries and speak 43 heritage languages. Sixty percent are first-generation college students.
Virtually all LaGuardia students are ethnic minorities (89 percent), 58 percent are women, 27 percent are over the age of 25. Forty-six percent of associate degree students are Hispanic. Upon graduation most students transfer to four-year colleges, typically in CUNY, to complete their baccalaureate degrees. Graduates of career programs such as Nursing, Computer Technology, and Veterinary Technology enter the workforce. Reporting to the Executive Director of Human Resources, the HR Training Specialist will be responsible, but not limited to, the following:
+ Assist with the design, development and implementation of engaging training programs that enhance employee skills, compliance awareness, and organizational performance;
+ Assess training needs though surveys, interviews, and performance data to align programs with strategic planning goals and workforce development plans;
+ Assist with the implementation of onboarding and orientation programs;
+ Develop training materials such as manuals, e-learning modules, presentations, and assessments tailored to diverse learning styles;
+ Collaborate with department heads to identify opportunities for new training programs;
+ Maintain accurate training records.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ Demonstrated experience designing, delivering, and evaluating employee training.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
+ Experience with Microsoft Suite
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Assists in developing, delivering, and administering employee training programs.
- Plans training activities, including working with internal and external instructors and site coordinators, preparing communications and marketing materials, and actively promoting available programs
- Coordinates registration and other communications with employees enrolled in programs
- Delivers selected training programs; monitors the delivery of training programs by others
- Compiles data and creates reports on enrollment, trainee feedback, and other issues to determine the effectiveness of training programs and identify opportunities for improvement
- Performs related duties as assigned.
