PURPOSE OF DIVISION
The Airside Operations and MX Division is responsible for the exterior maintenance of the airport and the safe operation of the airfield. This includes ensuring sufficient maintenance of runways, taxiways, lighting, signs, and other airfield components. This division is required to make certain that all airfield maintenance is compliant with FAA regulations. These tasks are critical to ensuring the airport remains operational, safe, and retains an approved airport operating certificate.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Airside Operations and MX Division Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of airfield systems to ensure the safe operation of aircraft. The Division Manager coordinates with Airport Operations to develop strategies to make certain the airfield adheres to all required FAA regulations. This position coordinates and supervises airfield work, repair activities, and facilities maintenance. Evaluates airfield activities to ensure compliance with established policies and directives. Identifies, reports, corrects, or mitigates inspection discrepancies. This position is responsible for assisting with budget preparation, monitoring expenditures, and recommending corrective actions as needed. This position reports to the Assistant Director of HOU Operations.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

+ Management of the team responsible for aircraft emergency response.
+ Assists in the design and implementation of special systems, plans and projects.
+ Establishes policies, procedures, guidelines and project schedules.
+ Researches, reviews and evaluates new data, reports, products and other information.
+ Acts as liaison to other departments, government agencies and private sector.
+ Reviews, evaluates, selects and implements hardware and software products.
+ Assists departments and general public in obtaining and explaining technical and non-technical information.
+ Drafts and reviews proposed contracts, correspondence, letters of agreements and

+ Prepares and presents reports and studies for management.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The position requires lifting and moving of moderately heavy items, such as barricades, traffic cones, and equipment (up to 40 pounds) and/or very long periods of walking on rough surfaces on a routine basis. There are routine discomforts from exposure to heat, cold, moisture/wetness and unpleasant air conditions. The position may involve routine exposure to soiled materials and chemical substances such as aviation fuel and fluids and cleaning solutions. Requires the ability to make coordinated eye/hand movements within fairly fine tolerance and/or calibration demands; or the ability to make closely coordinated eye/hand movements on a patterned response space within moderate tolerance demands.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Engineering or a field closely related to activities of the division.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Seven years of progressive professional experience closely related to the activities of the division are required, with at least three of the years in a supervisory capacity.
A Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or a field closely related to the activities of the division may be substituted for two years of experience.
Directly related professional experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Requires a valid Class C Texas driver's license and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving (AP 2-2).
PREFERENCES
Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
