Primary Purpose:
As a Commercial/Business Development representative of the largest natural gas Pipeline Company and 4th largest energy company in North America, the right candidate will represent the company’s ideals, guiding principles and values both internally and externally. This position provides the opportunity to interact with senior management, lead negotiations with external customers, and strategically influence growth decisions the company makes.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities will include:
+ The Commercial Analyst/Manager of Business Development will be responsible for the commercial management of pipeline interconnect projects in KM’s Interstate Natural Gas Pipelines business segment. KM operates 17 separate FERC-regulated interstate pipeline and storage companies with approximately 50,000 miles pipe and extensive underground storage facilities
+ Drive the successful completion of assigned projects through a combination of independent work and analysis, effective coordination with diverse KM stakeholder groups, and successful negotiation of Interconnect Agreements with third party customers.
+ Develop working knowledge of KM pipeline tariffs impacting Interconnect projects such as gas quality standards and facility cost recovery mechanisms
+ Track details and status of projects for intra- and inter-departmental reporting and management presentations
+ The ideal candidate will have previous experience drafting and negotiating agreements, resolving any differences and discrepancies in such negotiations, and have general knowledge in natural gas pipeline operations, regulations and FERC oversight and be able to effectively manage relationships by answering questions and explaining processes to customers, ranging from major interstate pipeline customers to small, independent customers
*Position may be filled at the Manager level, depending on the experience and skillset of the successful candidate.
Position Requirements
Education:
+ Bachelor’s Degree (required), studies in Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing, Accounting, or Finance
+ Master’s Degree (preferred)
Experience/Specific Knowledge:
+ Greater than three (3) years’ experience in the natural gas industry preferably in business development, marketing, operations, engineering, regulatory, project management, contract management or similar role
+ Good interpersonal communication skills and act as a liaison/coordinator between external customers and internal commercial, legal, project management, operations, and engineering
+ Ability to read and comprehend contracts and facilitate change tracking and collaboration amongst stakeholders

+ Well-developed oral and written communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills
+ Comfortable working in a fast-paced, results-driven environment with a strong focus on commercial performance and strategic growth
+ Organizational skills, problem solving skills, and strong attention to detail
+ Advanced proficiency level in MS Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
+ Ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities
+ Ability to organize, establish and maintain filing and record keeping systems
+ Ability to prepare reports from electronic data and various sources
+ Must be self-motivated, have a high degree of initiative, and capable of working with minimal supervision and/or direction once fully proficient
+ Must be flexible and able to work effectively in a team environment and consistently maintain a professional and respectful demeanor/attitude with co-workers, clients, vendors, and regulatory agencies
+ Ultimate job level will be determined based on the successful candidates’ skills, qualifications and experience
