    Chemical Plant Technician

    **Location:** North Chesterfield, Virginia

    **Employment Type:** Contract-to-Hire

    **Pay Structure:** Competitive hourly rate + multiple paid holidays

    Position Summary

    We are seeking a **Chemical Plant Technician** to support the safe and efficient operation of our specialty chemicals facility. This role involves working with powdered chemicals used in polymer production and requires physical agility, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety. Ideal candidates are reliable, trainable, and eager to grow within a dynamic industrial environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Operate plant machinery and equipment in accordance with safety and environmental standards

    + Monitor instrumentation panels, open/close valves, and report readings from gauges

    + Handle powdered chemicals, including dumping 10-kilo bags into containers

    + Perform basic math calculations and track plant data per standard procedures

    + Climb ladders and navigate between four levels of the facility

    + Operate forklifts and use industrial scales, hand tools, and power tools

    + Perform manual labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs

    + Troubleshoot minor mechanical and electrical issues

    + Maintain awareness of operating procedures, emergency protocols, and safety policies

    + Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors

    + Maintain clean and safe work areas across the facility

    Required Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience in machine operation, mechanical troubleshooting, or chemical processing

    + Familiarity with safety protocols and general production processes

    + Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including climbing and lifting

    + Comfortable working in environments requiring respirator use

    + Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately

    Preferred Experience

    + Prior experience in chemical manufacturing or batch mixing

    + Experience in heavy industrial roles

    + Basic electrical troubleshooting skills

    + Perfect safety and attendance record in previous roles

    Work Environment

    + Multi-level chemical plant with frequent movement between floors

    + Exposure to hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals, dust, noise, and fluctuating temperatures

    + Work includes clean room areas and metal grating surfaces

    + Outdoor movement between buildings in varying weather conditions

    + Initial 8-hour rotating shifts (1st and 2nd shift every 2 weeks)

    + Upcoming shift change to a **12-hour rotating schedule** (3-on, 2-off, 2-on), alternating between days and nights every 2 weeks

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
