Staff Attorney - Workers' Compensation

The Workers Compensation Staff Attorney provides legal defense to policyholders and supports NJM’s Workers Compensation Claims Department.
Job Responsibilities:
+ Protect the interests of NJM policyholders in litigated workers’ compensation matters through the point of settlement or decision
+ Work with staff in the preparation of pleadings, motions, briefs, and other documents
+ Provide case status updates, recommendations, and legal guidance to policyholders and Workers’ Compensation Claims staff
+ Work collaboratively with other enterprise stakeholders in the defense of Workers’ Compensation claims
+ Build and maintain relationships with internal and external customers
+ Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications & Experience:
+ Critical thinking skills and attention to detail
+ Ability to work independently
+ Strong negotiation, communication and writing skills
+ Ability to problem-solve and make decisions
+ Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
+ Strong relationship-building skills and a commitment to customer service
+ Computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Outlook
+ Juris Doctor degree
+ License to practice law in the state of New Jersey
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Trial or arbitration experience
+ Judicial clerkship experience
+ Workers’ Compensation experience, including multiple jurisdictions
+ 0-3 years of experience
Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and credentials.
Pay Range: $100,226-$113,404
