    There is more than one location associated with this position. This is either because there are multiple openings at different sites, or the successful candidate will be required to float across multiple UHS facilities.     $37.00 - $55.50 per hour, depending on experience

    Responsibilities:

    + Directs, coordinates and participates in Spiritual Care services including counseling services, clinical education, spiritual care research and/or program development. Supervises staff and volunteer chaplains.

    + Oversee, mentor, and evaluation of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) for spiritual care students.

    + Maintain interfaith chapels with spiritual resources, devotionals, and be available for sacramental and /or spiritual encounters as appropriate and needed (i.e. blessings, weddings, baptisms, anointings, prayers, meditations).

    + Maintain electronic medical record (EMR) of spiritual care encounters.

    + Provides ministry to patients and their families according to age-related and cultural needs; supports patients and their families in times of crises, anxiety and grief; provides for spiritual needs of patients, families and staff.

    + Provides spiritual care support and direction to all programs including Trauma Services.

    + Coordinates and directs patient visits upon admission and during their hospitalization as requested; consults physicians and hospital staff regarding patient condition and acts as liaison between family members and hospital staff during period of crisis; performs religious rites at request of church, family or patient.

    + Coordinates and directs in-service training programs including spiritual care counseling and Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE); provides individual and group instruction to non-employed and volunteer Chaplains and makes regular written evaluations of their performance.

    + Participates in regular and special religious services as required.

    + Provides instruction in spiritual care techniques to interested groups; maintains liaison between local clergy and hospital staff; represents the Hospital in community and professional association group meetings.

    + Maintains spiritual care budget, develops educational plans for spiritual care students and coordinates spiritual care activities within this budget.

    + Participates in organizational activities and committees to ensure spiritual care is integrated into all aspects of patient care.

    + Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with Broome County Council of Churches, Diocese of Syracuse and other Pastoral/Spiritual Care agencies.

    + Pursue and maintain grant funding for expansion of services to enhance the patient and/or staff experience at UHS.

    + Lead monthly staff meetings for staff chaplains.

    + Provides oversight of contractual Spiritual Care contracts.

    Education/Experience

    Minimum Required:

    + Masters Degree in Divinity or related field

    + Three (3) years of progressively responsible managerial experience

    + Ordained and/or Endorsed by a faith group, spiritual tradition, or philosophy

    Preferred:

    + Hospital chaplaincy experience three (3) or more years

    + Minimum of one (1) unit of CPE
