Job Description Summary:
Perform surveillance of the healthcare physical environment to aid in assuring safe clinical spaces for patients and working areas for associates. Creating infection control risk assessments (ICRA) for projects and monitoring conditions of construction and renovation/repair projects to ensure ICRA requirements are followed. Work collaboratively with the infection prevention staff through routine tracer activity and by reviewing proposed environmental modifications.
Responsibilities And Duties:
65% Functional Knowledge
Ability to observe environmental surroundings and determine opportunities for improvement and immediate risk.
Use of Microsoft Office platforms for communication, data collection, and reporting
Use various databases to enter findings and pull observation data into reports. Use of software platforms to review and process construction and repair/remodel request presented to the infection prevention team.
Working knowledge of construction and project planning to receive and interpret construction requests for infection prevention permitting.
Ability to review and interpret basic floor plans and construction documents to ensure appropriate measures are in place prior to, during, and after construction projects or repairs.
A basic working understanding of the types of clinical services provided to risk stratify mitigation strategies.

Ability to assess situations and provide real time corrections to ensure compliance with infection prevention standards for safe patient care.
Ability to assess when to escalate concerns that need immediate intervention for patient and/or staff safety.

Ability to maintain open communication throughout a project with various stakeholders including clinical departments, contractors, managers, and internal project managers.

Associate's Degree

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, credentials, licenses: Associate degree in healthcare field OR in construction related fields/project management OR environmental hygiene. In lieu of associates degree construction related certifications or 3 years of practical experience in design and construction.
