    Description of Work Unit

    The Office for Inclusive Excellence leads initiatives to ensure Colorado State University meets our Land-grant mission of access and success.     Position Summary

    SAFE Center provides confidential advocacy and specialty counseling to survivors of sexual assault and harassment, dating and domestic violence, stalking, and adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse; as well as violence prevention and foundational education programs to CSU’s campus.

     

    The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; the department will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

    Required Job Qualifications

    To be considered for this position, applicants must have:

    + Master’s Degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education, Sociology, Ethnic Studies, Social Work, Public Health, Public Administration or a related field required.

    + A minimum of three years of full-time professional experience in Student Affairs, Higher Education, or a related field, including at least two years of progressive leadership or administrative experience managing advocacy or prevention education programs addressing interpersonal violence, sexual assault, intimate partner violence, stalking, or related issues and familiarity with trauma-informed, survivor-centered practices and compliance with federal regulations such as Clery Act reporting.

    + Demonstrated experience developing educational programs specifically related to ending interpersonal violence from a comprehensive framework that includes risk reduction, bystander intervention, and prevention.

    + Demonstrated experience with interpersonal violence and victim assistance services.

    + Demonstrated understanding of considerations regarding the needs of interpersonal violence survivors.

     

    Preferred Job Qualifications

    Highly sought applicants will have many of the following:

    + Demonstrated ability to understand and articulate survivor-related needs.

    + Demonstrated understanding of all recent national legislation regarding Title IX, Title VII , and Clery and implications for policies, processes and mandates on college campuses.

    + Demonstrated understanding of Colorado state statutes as they relate to interpersonal violence and advocacy services.

    + Demonstrated leadership, effective outreach, and flexibility collaborating with departments with distinctly varied missions, goals, and objectives.

    + Experience supervising full-time professional staff.

    + Experience overseeing and managing a budget.

    + Demonstrated ability to facilitate effective programs and workshops on interpersonal violence-related content.

    + Experience in creating or managing men’s engagement programs to address healthy masculinity and interpersonal violence.

    + Knowledge of effective assessment strategies to measure learning outcomes and advocacy efficacy.

    + Demonstrated experience with conflict management and resolution.

    + Experience teaching courses related to interpersonal violence.

    + Demonstrated understanding of how interpersonal violence is perpetrated at the macro/institutional levels.

    + Demonstrated understanding of various legal processes and statutes related to advocacy (mandatory reporting, CO laws and statutes, confidentiality communication privilege, civil and criminal orders of protection, extreme risk protection orders, etc.).

    + Supervise, hire, support, develop and evaluate eight full-time staff. Co-supervise > 20 student staff members. Indirect supervision of 2-3 embedded counselors (full supervision lies with CSU Health Network).

    + Effectively collaborate with campus partners including but not limited to; the Office of Title IX Programs, Athletics, and Fraternity and Sorority Life.

    + Serve as a campus leader related to interpersonal violence policies and procedures (e.g. Title IX).

    + Support and guide the vision and implementation of programs and services designed to meet identified needs of the campus community as related to Interpersonal violence (e.g. Victim Assistance Team, peer education teams, etc.)

    + Provide vision and strategic planning within complex systems; manage organizational change.

    + Lead SAFE collaborations within the Cultural Resource Centers (CRCs).

    + Participate in continued professional development as applicable and accessible.

    + Liaison with Associated Students of Colorado State University Senators.

    + Support advocacy team with decision making related to confidentiality and advocacy concerns.

    + Advocate for the reduction or elimination of barriers to service for survivors while uplifting survivor voices and stories.

    + Provide consultation and referral for faculty, staff, and students about gender as it intersects with various identities.

    + Work closely and collaboratively with the Directors of the other Cultural and Resource Centers to advance OIE strategic priorities.

    + Facilitate training and workshop experiences for student, faculty, and staff groups on a variety of topics.

    + Initiate and collaborate on projects and programs throughout the Office for Inclusive Excellence.

    + Assist with university efforts including student recruitment and retention activities, orientation, major events, and professional development programs.

    + Serve on interpersonal violence and campus safety committees including the Student Consult Team.

    + Manage budget lines including state funding, student fee and gift accounts, and present annually to the Student Fee Review Board.
