    Highly Skilled Care for Movement Disorders

Getting an accurate diagnosis and accessing the newest treatments is vital. Although many movement disorders cannot be cured, our therapies are developed to relieve symptoms and reduce disease progression.

     

    Our department is equipped with the newest diagnostic technology and offers research-based treatment plans, ensuring that patients receive innovative care. As one of the nation's leading hospitals for neurological conditions, we provide compassionate, personalized care tailored to the complexities of each patient's condition.

     

    Cedars-Sinai is proud to host a team of world-renowned providers who focus on Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders. Each member of our team has completed fellowship training in movement disorders, ensuring a high level of expertise and knowledge.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform detailed assessments of patients to diagnose movement disorders by analyzing symptoms and medical history.

    + Apply advanced diagnostic tools to assess the communication between the central nervous system, nerves, and muscles.

    + Create individualized care plans that address the specific symptoms and progression of each movement disorder.

    + Recommend medications, therapies, or lifestyle changes to control symptoms and delay disease progression.

    + Collaborate with neurologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated care.

    + Facilitate communication among team members to ensure a cohesive approach to patient management.

    + Regularly review patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to optimize outcomes.

    + Address any side effects or complications from treatments promptly.

    + Provide thorough education to patients and their families regarding the nature of movement disorders and how to manage them.

    + Offer mentorship on coping strategies, support resources, and lifestyle changes to improve quality of life.

    + Keep up-to-date with the latest research and advances in movement disorder treatments and management strategies.

    + Attend professional development seminars, conferences, and workshops related to neurological care.

    + Contribute to clinical research efforts intended to deepen understanding and improve treatment of movement disorders.

    + Contribute to the development of new therapies and interventions.

    + Act as a liaison between patients and the healthcare system to ensure access to necessary resources and support.

    + Work to increase awareness and understanding of movement disorders within the community.

    + Provide guidance to staff in presenting and discussing patient information with patients and their families.

    + Mentor and train staff on best practices for communication and patient interaction.

    Qualifications

    Education

    + Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program required.

    + Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

    Experience

    + Experience as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) managing patients diagnosed with movement disorders preferred.

    License/Certification

    + Current, unrestricted California PA license.

    + DEA License required.

    + National PA certification.

    + BLS Life Support certification
