Job Overview

We are looking for a Level 2 Data Center Technician to join our IT team. This role involves maintaining data center systems, troubleshooting issues, performing server installations, and ensuring continuous network availability. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of network infrastructure and data center operations, with experience in server installations, network updates, break-fix tasks, and GPU deployment.

Key Responsibilities

+ Perform Level 1 tasks as needed, including:

+ Move and install servers and switches according to wire maps.

+ Inspect hardware for damage and ensure proper setup.

+ Bundle and organize cables to meet standards.

+ Confirm connectivity with network administrators.

+ Install additional components (NIC, drives, memory).

+ Assist with unboxing and prepping servers.

+ Audit servers and consumables.

+ Troubleshoot server issues and isolate problems.

+ Order and replace defective parts; return faulty components to vendors.

+ Update server firmware and configure IP addresses.

+ Support network admins with cabling, optics replacement, and hardware upgrades.

+ Rack and stack servers or switches for remote configuration.

+ Deploy and configure GPUs in servers.

+ Perform break-fix tasks, including troubleshooting and component replacement.

Requirements

+ High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

+ Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components.

+ Familiarity with standard office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word).

+ Ability to work non-standard hours, including weekends and holidays.

+ Physical ability to lift up to 35 lbs, climb ladders, and wear PPE as required.

+ Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

+ 2–3 years of experience in a data center environment.

Skills

Data center operations, deployment, fiber optics, cabling, rack and stack, troubleshooting, Cat6/Cat5, GPU configuration.

Preferred Qualifications

+ CompTIA A+ or equivalent experience.

+ CompTIA Server+ or equivalent experience.

+ CCENT or equivalent experience.

+ CCNA certification preferred.

+ MCP/MSCE certification preferred.

+ Windows OS experience.

+ Scripting experience (PowerShell, Python, Bash).

+ Experience with structured cabling, fiber testing, and optical termination.

+ Understanding of storage devices.

+ Familiarity with ITIL Framework (ITSM, Change Management, Problem Management).

+ Strong understanding of network fundamentals (OSI Layers 1–3).

+ OSHA30 or higher certification.

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00/hr.
