    Job Description

    The salary range for this position is at $18.00 hourly. We take into consideration an individual’s background and experience in determining salary; therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of other benefits and earned time off that vary depending on part-time or full-time status.

     

    1. Job Summary:

     

    The IT Intern will perform a variety of IT tasks to gain business and operational experience. This role will support the productivity of our team members by maintaining employees’ technology and application platforms and providing exceptional service.

     

    2. Essential Functions:

    • Provide tier 1 IT service desk support to YMCA team members by responding to service requests and tickets submitted through service portal, phone calls, instant messages and walk ins.

    • Accurately and efficiently configure and maintain computer hardware and software-including Microsoft operating system, applications, upgrades and software patches.

    • Maintain network and application passwords and permissions in an Active Directory environment.

    • Conduct adds, moves and changes to internal voice and data communications systems including computers, telephone system, voice mail system and cabling

    • Develop and maintain documentation, processes, and checklists for dynamically changing technical operations related to office technology according to guidance from management and supplier best-practices.

    • Support and assist team member’s mobile devices and apps for Android and iOS.

    • Demonstrates behaviors and actions consistent with YMCA values, code of conduct and other policies and procedures.

    • Perform duties and responsibilities as outlined for the task or projects assigned

    • Coordinate and perform project focused administrative activities

    • Report and escalate through IT team members following guidelines of the IT Service Level Agreement.

    • Participating in training and application of skills necessary to perform assigned duties and responsibilities

    • Communicate with identified internship supervisor reporting on progress, making recommendations, preparing reports, etc.

    3. Relationships:

     

    This position reports to the IT Service Desk Manager who reports to Sr. Director of IT Services who reports to the Executive Vice President of Information Technology who reports to the President/CEO. The incumbent interacts regularly with branch and Association level staff while providing support for computer and network related issues.

     

    4. Qualifications:

    Required

    • Must be at least 18 years of age.

    • High school diploma or equivalent

    • Reliable transportation to perform field service across all YMCA branches/locations.

    • Ability to follow directions with limited supervision.

    • Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft Office suite

    • Good verbal and written communication skills

    • Ask questions to enhance the development process

    • Ability to adapt to new technologies.

    • Ability to work flexible shifts and to adapt to changing work schedules

    Preferred

    • Pursuit or completion of a technology degree program directly related to the assignment or project

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

    • Bi/multilingual

    5. Work Conditions:

    • Must be able to work on a computer for extended periods.

    • Must be able to travel to various YMCA sites throughout the Twin Cities and remote camps.

    • Must have reliable transportation

    • Must be able to respond to emergency situations after normal business hours.

    • Ability to bend, twist, pull, reach and lift up to 50 pounds.
