Job Title: Specials Product EngineerJob Description

The Product Engineer is responsible for modifying materials, prints, 3D models, and Bill of Materials (BOM) structures for custom orders, focusing on leveraging existing standard products rather than designing from scratch. This role involves working with multiple materials such as wood and sheet metal across various lines of business. The engineer primarily uses Creo, Excel, and BAAN, handling approximately 10-15 projects per week.

Responsibilities

+ Modify and maintain engineering documentation, including materials, prints, models, and BOM structures.

+ Collaborate with other engineers to ensure design modifications integrate seamlessly.

+ Participate in daily touch-base meetings to review progress, priorities, and resolve issues.

+ Follow established workflows and processes to ensure quality and consistency.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Technology, etc.)

+ Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, Nx, Inventor, Catia)

+ Strong problem-solving skills and curiosity about design modifications in assembly/manufacturing/install processes

+ Detail-oriented with a willingness to follow established processes

+ Experience with ERP systems such as BAAN

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience with Toyota Production System methodology (Kanban)

+ Familiarity with plastic injection, wood, and sheet metal manufacturing

Work Environment

This is an in-office position, offering opportunities for interaction and networking with engineering teams and operations. The role is fast-paced, with a focus on completing projects quickly rather than long development cycles. Engineers can choose to work out of Spring Lake or the main site, with specific environments more comfortable based on material specialization. The standard work schedule is 40 hours per week, with flexible start times between 6-8:30 am, and occasional additional hours based on customer demand. This is a Contract position based out of Zeeland, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.85 - $33.65/hr.
