Upstream Product Marketing Associate (Medical Device Industry)
**Compensation:** $85,000 - $125,000 per year, plus bonus opportunities
Position Summary
The **Upstream Product Marketing Associate** reports to the Marketing Manager and is responsible for the overall strategic planning and execution of market expansion for assigned products. This role requires involvement in the entire product lifecycle—from market research and defining development needs to launch strategy and ongoing management of existing product lines.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Development:
+ Lead the overall product development process in collaboration with QA and Engineering teams, including:
+ Understanding and championing surgeon/customer needs to internal development and manufacturing teams.
+ Determining the process for new product development and setting product requirements.
+ Analyzing proposed market share and establishing pricing strategy.
+ Guide the Engineering team with research input to optimize product design and manufacturing methods.
+ Oversee cross-functional product development, reporting to various stakeholders and setting project priorities and timelines to ensure scheduled delivery.
+ Bring new products to market by preparing return-on-investment analyses and establishing time schedules with engineering and manufacturing partners.
Market Intelligence & Financial Analysis:
+ Develop revenue generation and market penetration strategies based on in-depth market, competitive, and financial analyses.
+ Acquire market intelligence through continuous **market research** and long-term trend analysis.
+ Develop accurate **sales forecasts** based on sales pipeline and performance data.
+ Produce annual pricing plans for domestic, regional (e.g., US, LatAm, Canada), and global markets.
Sales Support & Customer Engagement:
+ Work closely with the Downstream Marketing team to develop and implement launch and expansion strategies for assigned products.
+ Act as the in-house expert for assigned products, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of product lines, markets, and competition.
+ Monitor sales performance of assigned products and develop plans for improvement.
+ Develop and maintain relationships with **Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs)** , surgeons, and decision-makers to understand market movement, define market segmentation, and enhance interest in the products.
+ Perform product demonstrations for customers and sales representatives.
+ Provide ongoing support and education to customers and the internal sales team.
Qualifications and Experience
Required:
+ College degree or equivalent experience, with preference for a focus in marketing, business, or a scientific curriculum.
+ **3–5 years of Medical/surgical device industry experience is essential.**
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Excellent analytical skills.
+ Self-driven and confident in working across internal and external teams.
+ Strong time management and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
+ Collaborative mindset, capable of building rapport with customers, internal colleagues, and the sales organization.
+ Willingness to travel **30%–40%** of the time.
Preferred:
+ Experience in a regulatory environment.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
+ Duties are primarily performed while sitting at a desk utilizing standard office equipment.
+ Occasional walking or standing is required within the office or warehouse (stockroom/receiving areas) to inspect inventory or attend meetings.
+ Within the warehouse/production floor, exposure to sharp objects, small tools, and various equipment may occur. The noise level in this environment can be moderate to high.
**Pay Details:** $85,000.00 to $125,000.00 per year
