Position Summary
The Cost Accountant II plays a critical role in collecting, analyzing and reporting on operational financial performance. This position partners closely with site leadership to understand and address production variances, cost components and drivers, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs. The role ensures accurate inventory costing, strong variance analysis, and ongoing enhancement of financial processes in a standard cost environment. Cost Accountant II serves as a key collaborator in driving value optimization initiatives across the organization.
Core Responsibilities
Costing & Inventory
+ Assist in developing and maintaining the accuracy and integrity of product costs, including at the component level, across intercompany sites.
+ Support the annual standard cost roll as well as initial costing of new products.
+ Be the site point person for costing related inquiries.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
+ Participate in month-end closing activities including journal entries, reconciliations, and cost-center/location reporting.
+ Analyze and report variances between budgeted and actual operational results, with clear communication of root causes.
+ Understand production-related variances and work with operations leaders to resolve ongoing issues.
Value Optimization & Business Partnering
+ Serve as a financial business partner to site management by collecting and analyzing financial, inventory and production data to help control operational expenses
+ Provide analytical support for decision-making activities such as make-vs.-buy evaluations, capacity analysis, and ROI of proposed capital investments
+ Ensure cycle count plan requirements are met and help drive improvements in inventory accuracy
Process Improvement & Standardization
+ Develop and implement organization-wide tools, templates, and resources to standardize reporting and enhance intramonthly visibility.
+ Improve financial processes and analytics to support better forecasting, variance tracking, and site-level accountability.
Other Duties
+ Perform additional analysis and reporting needed to support business objectives.
+ Lead and collaborate in cross functional value-driven initiatives focused on optimizing efficiency, reducing waste, and improving financial performance.
Knowledge and Experience:
+ Knowledge of all accounting functions.
+ In-depth emotional intelligence: behavioral maturity, demonstrated trust and integrity, high ethical standards, interpersonal competence and the ability to prevent, reduce and resolve conflict.
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills; stand-up presentation and training skills.
+ PC Computer Proficiency: Word, Access, PowerPoint etc.
+ Advanced proficiency in report writing, database management, and Excel.
+ Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and generate results in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment.
+ Demonstrated team and individual leadership skills: decision-making, analytical, team-building and organization skills.
+ Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in cost accounting in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Education and Certification:
+ B.S. in Business, Finance or Accounting or equivalent relevant experience in lieu of degree
+ Relevant certification including CPA or CMA preferred

Compensation Range for the Position:
$63,281.00 - 80,683.50 - 98,086.00 USD
Target Cash Profit Sharing for the Position:
8%
