Entry-Level Security Installation Technician – ADT (New York Metro Area)

About the Role

Join ADT, a leader in security solutions, as an Entry-Level Security Installation Technician. This is a hands-on opportunity to launch a long-term career in the low-voltage and security systems trade. You’ll receive paid training, work alongside experienced technicians, and gain valuable skills in a growing industry.

What You’ll Do

After completing a structured 5-week training program, you’ll be responsible for:

+ Installing and programming burglar alarms, CCTV (IP & analog), DVRs, and access control systems in residential settings

+ Installing devices such as window breaks, door units, and smoke detectors

+ Troubleshooting signal issues to ensure proper alarm functionality

+ Providing exceptional customer service during on-site visits

+ Educating customers on system usage and answering questions

+ Completing job documentation and ensuring accurate inventory tracking

+ Maintaining a clean and organized work vehicle

+ Striving for 90%+ installation success with minimal callbacks

Training Timeline

+ Week 1: ADT LMS training at a local branch

+ Week 2: Field shadowing with a senior technician

+ Weeks 3–5: Hands-on installations with mentorship, progressing to independent work

What We’re Looking For

We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds, especially those with experience in:

+ Mechanical trades, construction, HVAC, cable installation, electronics, or warehouse work

+ Comfort using tools like drills, screwdrivers, wire cutters, and ladders

+ Strong communication and customer service skills

+ A desire to learn and grow in a skilled trade

Security system installation is a trade—we’re looking for individuals who are eager to build a career, not just find a job.

Requirements

+ Reliable transportation (mileage reimbursement available after training)

+ Ability to travel within a 2-hour radius

+ Willingness to work flexible hours until job completion

+ Own or acquire basic tools and a foldable ladder (suggested: Little Giant Velocity Model 17)

Compensation & Benefits

+ Training Pay

+ Technician Pay: $17-19/hr (based on experience)

+ Mileage Reimbursement: Up to $100/week post-training (with receipts)

+ Additional Mileage: Reimbursed for travel over 300 miles/week

+ Uniforms & PPE Provided by TEKsystems

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Albany, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.00/hr.
