    Superintendent, Manufacturing - BWX Technologies, Inc. - Barberton, Ohio

     

    Job Overview: As the Superintendent of one of the Fabrication Shops, you will be pivotal in shaping the strategic direction of our production operations. Your primary responsibility will be to lead and optimize all activities within the production areas, ensuring alignment with organizational goals while driving efficiency, safety, and quality throughout the manufacturing process. Providing complete and professional communications up to the General Manager level as well as occasionally to the Vice President or President level.

    Job Duties:

    + Responsible for directing and coordinating all activities in the production areas guaranteeing safety, quality, schedule and cost objectives associated with the assigned cost centers.

    + Develop and implement strategic initiatives for continuous improvement across all operational functions, influencing long-term growth and optimizing expense management. Where appropriate, solicit, develop and implement innovative fabrication techniques or technologies to improve quality, schedule and cost performance. Stand alone activities as well as collaborative with supporting functions.

    + Enhance coordination and collaboration among manufacturing functions, delivering effective support across shop-to-shop interfaces.

    + Interpret, implement, and uphold all corporate and divisional policies relevant to production activities, ensuring compliance and consistency throughout the organization.

    + Manage labor relations at the shop level by collaborating with union representatives and labor relations personnel, fostering a positive workplace culture and efficient communication.

    + Strategically oversee production to ensure the timely fulfillment of production schedules while maintaining competitive fabrication spans that align with budgetary expectations.

    + Assess and manage shop manpower and equipment requirements, including acquisitions, justifications, maintenance, disposal, utilization, and curtailment to align with operational schedules and budgetary constraints.

    + Spearhead the identification and development of supervisory personnel, promoting effective hiring, training, development, hourly job classification, and assignment to elevate operational efficiency and utilization.

    + Coordinates shop manpower and equipment requirements including acquisitions, justification, maintenance, disposal, utilization and curtailment to meet schedules and budgets.

    Job Qualifications:

    + Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Industrial Management or equivalent experience. Degree is preferred.

    + Management experience leading a Union workforce is desired

    + 10 + years' manufacturing operations experience. Manufacturing leadership/management experience preferred.

    + Prior experience in managing a Fabrication workforce; fitting, arc welding, crane operations is required

Position requires U.S. Citizenship (with no dual citizenship) and ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance which involves an extensive criminal and financial background investigation and previous employment reference verifications.
