Job Description
- The Application Support Engineer is responsible for ensuring the stability, reliability, and performance of customer-facing self-service applications in production.
- This role serves as the ultimate technical escalation point for systemic and production defects, providing root cause analysis and resolution.
- The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams—including Product, Development, and Operations—to triage issues, monitor systems, manage defects, and assess technical debt.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the highest-level technical escalation point for production issues impacting customer-facing applications.
- Perform root cause analysis for systemic and recurring defects.
- Monitor application health using alerting tools and dashboards; proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Troubleshoot complex API integrations, including REST and GraphQL request/response flows.
- Analyze logs and metrics using Splunk and other observability tools.
- Collaborate with Product, Development, and Operations teams to triage and resolve incidents quickly.
- Manage defect lifecycle in Jira, ensuring timely resolution and communication.
Assess and report on technical debt, recommending remediation strategies.
- Provide detailed incident reports and post-mortem documentation.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives for monitoring, alerting, and automation.
- Can pay $35-42/h

Skills and Requirements
- 3+ years in application support or production support roles.
- Strong experience in application production support and issue triaging.
- Proficiency in Splunk for log analysis and monitoring.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting API (REST/GraphQL) request/response data.
- Familiarity with Jira for defect tracking and incident management.
- Investigative mindset with strong data analysis skills for diagnosing complex issues.
- Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a customer-first mindset.
- SDLC - Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
