As an intern you will participate in our nationwide Internship & Co-Op Program, LEAP, where you will have the opportunity to Learn, Engage, Apply, and Progress within the company. In this position, you will be supporting the Combat Mission Systems (CMS) Business at our Aiken, SC facility. We have 2 positions onsite at our Aiken facility, 1 for the winter (January-May) and 1 for summer (May-August). Relocation will not be offered, and housing is not provided. This position is expected to be Full Time (40 hours / week).
The Combat Vehicles line of business within the Platforms & Services (P&S) Sector of BAE Systems is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented intern to support the assembly of armored military vehicles. We are looking for an Industrial, Systems, or Process Engineering student to join our Process Engineering Team as an Entry-Level Manufacturing Engineering Intern. This internship provides a unique opportunity to work on real-world projects, gain hands-on experience, and build a strong foundation in CNC programming and optimization.
As a Manufacturing/Process Engineering Intern you will:
+ Support the assembly of armored military vehicles
+ Apply theoretical knowledge to real-world projects
+ Develop practical skills in CNC programming and manufacturing engineering
+ Collaborate with experienced engineers and technicians
+ Contribute to the optimization of manufacturing processes
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
+ Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial, or a related field
+ Basic knowledge of CNC machining and programming (e.g., G-code, M-code)
+ Familiarity with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam)
+ Strong understanding of machining principles and manufacturing processes
+ Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
+ Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
+ Strong communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
+ Experience with CNC machining and programming (e.g., MasterCAM, Siemens NX)
+ Familiarity with machining simulation software (e.g., Vericut, Esprit)
+ Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and waste reduction methodologies
+ Experience with data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau)
+ Familiarity with Industry 4.0 technologies (e.g., IoT, automation)
Software and Tools:
+ Familiarity with the following software and tools is a plus:CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam)CNC machining simulation software (e.g., Vericut, Esprit)G-code and M-code editors (e.g., Notepad , Visual Studio Code)Data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau)
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $41818 - $56444
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20 hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
