    We are currently looking to add a full time Civil Engineer-in-Training to the Energy Group in our Sacramento, CA office.     The successful candidate will work on challenging and diverse tasks for dams and hydroelectric projects, conveyance tunnels, and water resource projects for a variety of domestic and international clients. The successful candidate will be working in conjunction with other engineers on multi-discipline teams to support project activities through the application of engineering principles and techniques. The successful candidate should be able to work independently and with small and large teams to apply critical thinking skills to solve technical issues and develop project-specific solutions. The position will require travel to project sites and will provide stimulating career growth opportunities.

     

    Your Key Responsibilities

     

    - Follow safe work practices and adhere to company guidelines for planning and executing work in a safe manner.

     

    - Work in conjunction with engineers to solve project challenges, performing design calculations as required.

     

    - Provide field engineering support for projects during construction.

     

    - Conduct field inspections, observe and participate in field exploration and testing programs, and perform site characterizations under the supervision of more senior engineers.

     

    - Assist with feasibility studies by conducting research to assess issues and develop solutions.

     

    - Select criteria for planning, design, and construction of dams, tunnels, caverns, foundations, slopes, and earth-retaining structures.

     

    - Prepare technical reports including data reports, field reports, technical memoranda, computation packages, feasibility reports, design and evaluation reports, construction completion reports, operations and maintenance plans, construction drawings, and technical specifications.

     

    - Develop familiarity with regulatory agency requirements, technical design standards, and industry standards and guidelines in embankment dam design and retrofit.

     

    - Participate in professional development and training activities.

     

    Qualifications - External

    - Your Capabilities and Credentials

    - Working knowledge of the principles of civil engineering. Previous exposure to construction field inspections, field sampling, and concrete/soil laboratory testing is a plus.

     

    - Willing and able to travel, both nationally and internationally, to conduct field investigation, or construction quality oversight type work.

     

    - Some exposure to or knowledge of construction contracts, construction drawings, and technical specifications, and computer aided design drafting.

     

    - Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint software.

     

    - Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

     

    - Sound organizational, technical, written, and oral communication skills with attention to detail.

     

    - Prior engineering experience working in a consulting capacity is a plus.

     

    - Valid driver's license and good driving record required.

     

    - Education and Experience

     

    - 0-2 years of experience

     

    - Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university is required.

     

    - Masters’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university is a plus.

     

    - Completion of coursework in structures, construction management, and technical writing for engineers is preferred.

     

    - EIT or ability to obtain within one year

    • Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas-$74,600.00 - $104,400.00 Annually
