This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a **Full-Time** Lead CBTC Communications Engineer, Transit & Rail for our office in **New York, NY** . Be involved in projects with our Transit and Rail Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients’ objectives and solves their challenges.
Your Impact
+ Support and represent as owner rep for MTA C&D CBTC projects.
+ Review regulations and standards necessary to conduct technical studies and carry out project activities.
+ Participate in design reviews, safety assessments, and quality assurance activities, offering expert systems engineering insight.
+ Inspects construction site to monitor progress and assess conformance to engineering plans, specifications and construction standards.
+ Assist in resolving design issues and questions from the Design Build contractor.
+ Communicate and coordinate with the Design Build contractor and the project team.
+ Must be able to perform a detailed comparison of the design drawings against the contract requirements.
+ Analyzes project task needs, changes and enhancements and makes recommendations.
+ Oversee CBTC system integration and testing, validating performance and safety across all components.
+ Oversee internal and external interfaces, ensuring seamless integration with rolling stock, wayside equipment, and control centers.
+ Identify and mitigate system-level risks, developing contingency strategies to support project success.
+ Prepares and gives briefings and presentations, advises senior management.
+ Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
+ Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline with a focus on rail signaling.
+ Minimum 10 years of experience in Communications/Network engineering.
+ Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
+ Technical writing, analytical and communication skills.
+ Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products.
+ The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.
+ Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
+ Basic leadership abilities, capable of coordinating cross-functional teams and delivering on schedule.
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, partners, and internal stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Strong grasp of Communications/Network engineering principles, including requirements management, architecture design, and system validation.
+ Solid knowledge of CBTC, Automatic Train Supervision (ATS) and Data Communication System (DCS) technologies and their practical applications.
+ Familiarity with NY area transportation agencies such as Amtrak, LIRR, MNR, NJT, NYCT, PANYNJ and their technical approach.
+ Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
+ This position is subject to and contingent upon client approval of candidates put forth for consideration by WSP.
+ This position requires min. 4 days, on-site either at the client’s office and/or the project office for the duration of the program. The project is located in New York City.
+ Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $139,000 - $180,000
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
