About the Role:
As a CBRE Data Center Technical Manager, you will be responsible for the delivery of CBRE Technical Services for global data center clients. Accountable for pricing, delivery, and scope of vendor maintenance contracts, development of market leading process, and critical operations documentation. Deliver technical service support to business to maintain 100% uptime and achieve account plan ensuring all technical services meet client SLAs.
As the Technical Manager at CBRE Data Center Solutions, you will fulfill two primary functions: serving as a Subject Matter Expert and overseeing Critical Environment Risk Management (CERM) Governance. In the first role, you will provide technical expertise in electrical, mechanical, and fire protection systems, acting as a key resource for site operations teams to address operational and maintenance challenges. In the second role, you will manage Critical Environment Risk Management processes, including reporting on key performance indicators and implementing risk management strategies to ensure the stability and safety of critical environments. This position demands a strong engineering foundation to support both operational reliability and risk mitigation efforts.
This job is part of the Engineering and Technical Services job function. They are responsible for providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems.

• Maintenance Planning
• Operational Procedures (SOP, EOP, MOP)
• Incident Support
• Critical Work Planning
• Critical Infrastructure Capacity Management
• Root Cause Analysis and After after-action reports
• Risk Register Management
• Data Center Floor Airflow Management
Leadership & Communication
• Highly adaptable and communicative leader with 10+ years of experience managing facility engineering teams.
• Proven ability to lead, plan, and execute strategic initiatives, thriving in dynamic environments and readily adapting to changing priorities.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills tailored to diverse audiences and mediums.
Technical Skills & Software Proficiency
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Expertise in Microsoft Teams and/or Microsoft Power BI
• Experienced with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
• Proficient in Building Management Systems (BMS), Data Center Information Management systems (DCIM), and Electrical Power Management Systems (EPMS)
• Skilled in Bluebeam and/or CAD software.
• Experience with work order analysis and report writing.
Technical Expertise & Knowledge
Operation, maintenance, and repair of data center critical infrastructure, including:
• Standby generators, UPS systems, Power Distribution Units (PDUs), and Automatic Transfer Switches (ATSs).
• Air-cooled and water-cooled chilled water plants and distribution systems.
• Computer Room Air Handlers (CRAHs) and Air Conditioners (CRACs).
• Water treatment and filtration systems.
• Building Management Systems (BMS), Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), and Data Center Information Management systems (DCIM).
Engineering Knowledge of:
• Psychrometric charts, HVAC load calculations, and hydronic pipe sizing.
• Reading electrical one-lines, chilled, and condenser water diagrams.
• Standard sequences of operation for electrical and mechanical data center systems.
• Electrical power calculations per NFPA 70 (NEC), coordination, arc-flash studies (NFPA 70E), and maintenance practices (NFPA 70B).
• Industry standards, including ASHRAE Datacom/TC 9.9 and OCP publications.
• Principles of preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance.
• Energy efficiency metrics (e.g., PUE, WUE) and sustainable data center practices.
+ Deliver manager employee training programs relating to new and existing processes to improve awareness.
+ Work with Technical Leads to develop, track and maintain procedures and policies.
+ Manage technical library content and structure globally.
+ Execute operational and performance risk assessment.
+ Apply a broad knowledge of the business, own discipline, and how own discipline integrates with others to achieve team and departmental objectives.
+ Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values. Influence others to adopt a different point of view while being guided by policies and departmental plans.
+ Identify and solve technical and operational problems of complexity.
+ Understand and recognize the broader impact across the department.
+ Improve and change existing methods, processes, and standards within job discipline.
What You’ll Need:
+ • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or related engineering field is preferred• Professional Engineering License is a plus.• Three to five years of experience in the data center industry, with a focus on design and/or operations.• Experience in the areas of staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, measuring, appraising, and rewarding performance and retention preferred.• Ability to guide the exchange of sensitive, complicated, and difficult information, convey performance expectations and handle problems.• Leadership skills to motivate team impact on quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the job discipline and department.• Extensive organizational skills with a strong inquisitive mindset.• Advanced math skills. Ability to calculate difficult figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial-related calculations.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Technical Manager position is $140,000 annually [or $67.30 per hour] and the maximum salary for the Technical Manager position is $155,000 annually [or $74.52 per hour]. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program.
