At Merrimack Health, we are committed to pay transparency and equity. The base salary range is $72.62 (Min) — $108.98 hourly (Max), excluding fringe benefits and potential bonuses.
Your final base salary will be determined based on your education, experience, licensure, and internal equity considerations. Offers are typically made below the top of the range to support future salary growth.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Director of Emergency and T rauma Services assumes administrative responsibility for fiscal management, human resources, quality improvement programs, planning, organizing, directing, controlling, coordinating, and promoting the delivery of patient care for our Lawrence campus. Using the principles of Transformational Leadership and Structural Empowerment, the Nursing Director has accountability for managing resources (human, material and financial) to ensure quality, cost-effective delivery of culturally competent patient services for specific patient populations, in one or more units. Is recognized as a professional role model and promotes a professional environment that supports continuous learning, employee and patient satisfaction. This is accomplished by direct action, delegation, coaching and support of unit-based shared governance councils.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide Strategic Leadership and Operational Oversight Direct and manage emergency services, trauma programs, and related departments, ensuring alignment with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and organizational goals.
Ensure Regulatory Compliance and Quality Standards Maintain adherence to JCAHO, state, federal, and accreditation requirements; implement corrective actions and lead initiatives to uphold patient safety and infection control standards.
Drive Staff Development and Workforce Management Oversee recruitment, orientation, ongoing education, and performance evaluations; establish staffing plans based on acuity and best practices to optimize patient care delivery.
Manage Financial and Resource Planning Prepare and monitor annual budgets, control costs, and recommend productivity-enhancing programs while ensuring departments operate within approved financial guidelines.
Foster Collaboration and Organizational Engagement Serve as a liaison across departments, committees, and community organizations; lead change management efforts, promote interdepartmental communication, and represent the hospital in regional EMS/Trauma initiatives.
EDUCATION AND RELATED EXPERIENCE:
Required:
+ Bachelor's Degree.
+ Minimum of 5 years experience in the Medical/Surgical and Critical Care areas of an acute care hospital, with 3–5 years of progressively more complex administrative responsibility.
+ Computer literacy.
Preferred:
+ Master’s degree in nursing or healthcare administration.
