    **Boeing, Defense, Space, and Security (BDS)** is seeking motivated, talented **Senior** **Mechanical Systems and Analysis Engineers** to join our **Space Launch Systems (SLS)** located in **New Orleans, Louisiana and Kennedy Space Center, Florida,** to be Vehicle Lead Engineers.

     

    This role provides overall leadership and guidance to the shop floor engineering/technical execution teams and is critical in ensuring the efficient operation of flight hardware production and maintenance, with a focus on problem-solving, and technical authority.

    Position Responsibilities:

    + Serves as the primary technical authority on the shop floor for all hardware-related issues.

    + Provide guidance and support to shop floor personnel (engineering and operations) in troubleshooting and resolving technical challenges.

    + Utilizes advanced problem-solving skills to address a wide range of technical challenges that may arise during production and maintenance.

    + Implements effective solutions that minimize downtime and enhance operational efficiency.

    + Collaborates with the design engineering organization to interpret engineering drawings and provides clarification on engineering intent to mechanics, operations leaders, liaison / manufacturing / industrial engineering, quality, and program management

    + Determines the appropriate disposition of hardware and processes to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.

    + Works closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality, and production, to facilitate rapid response and seamless operations.

    + Communicates technical findings and recommendations clearly to all stakeholders.

    + Identifies opportunities for process improvements and contributes to the development of best practices.

    + Mentors and trains _engineering personnel supporting production_ to enhance their technical skills and knowledge.

    + Facilitates rapid execution of engineering drawing revisions as a response to production build by coordinating integrated research packages with liaison engineering who provides authority and final decision on the change

    **This position is expected to be 100% onsite.** The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed locations.

     

    This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.

     

    The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

    Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

    + Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.

    + Typically, 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications.

    Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

    + Excellent communications skills, verbal and written.

    + Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of management, customers, and partners.

    + Previous technical leadership experience.

    + Ability to build a safe environment of inclusion, transparency, and trust.

    + Leadership skills to lead and influence positive outcomes.

    + Previous experience in leading, mentoring, and engaging individuals and teams.

    + Can gain trust of team and stakeholders

    + Previous launch vehicle manufacturing experience (greater than 8 years)

     

    This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

    Summary pay range, Lead Level 4: $ 120,700 - $ 163,300
