Automotive Mechanical Design Engineer
Job Description
Join our innovative team to contribute to product development by integrating specifications, applications, and creative solutions. Design and develop equipment, products, and instruments, ensuring they meet high standards of innovation and functionality.
Responsibilities
+ Perform research and development for emerging technologies, trends, and new products.
+ Design and engineer components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies.
+ Utilize templates to document project specifications, issues, requirements, and data types.
+ Conduct tests and evaluations of equipment, instruments, or components to eliminate sources of failure, enhancing accuracy, feasibility of assembly and maintenance, and suitability of design.
+ Coordinate with the production engineering department to ensure the preparation of all pertinent drawings and specifications for manufacture, with all drawings and specifications approved prior to product release.
+ Design modifications and component substitutions in instruments as necessary, ensuring changes are incorporated into drawings, tooling, and purchase specifications.
+ Design, build, and develop prototypes to meet specifications.
+ Develop working relationships with specialists in technology areas involved in design, both in-house and with outside vendors.
+ Develop technical information and specifications through test reports and disseminate the information to engineering, purchasing, sales associates, and marketing representatives.
+ Stay updated on competitive developments, new materials, and methods as a foundation for design approaches.
+ Interact with engineering, quality, manufacturing, and production teams.
+ Occasionally interact with customers or vendors.
Essential Skills
+ 7+ years of experience with product development, manufacturing, and production in the automotive industry.
+ Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or equivalent engineering degree.
+ Proficiency in SolidWorks and PDM.
+ Strong skills in 3D design and drawing.
+ Knowledge of GD&T and basic dimensioning.
+ Ability to read drawings and schematics.
+ Experience with manufacturing and mass production.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in engineering documentation.
Work Environment
The role is based onsite at a new facility, with normal working hours from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday. You will work with various types of equipment, including computers, office equipment, 3D printers, test equipment, gauges, optical equipment, electronics, and tools.

This is a Permanent position based out of Snow Hill, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
