Job Duties and Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Packaging and Automation Engineer to drive innovation and efficiency across our product lines. This critical role is responsible for the end-to-end design, development, and implementation of sustainable and cost-effective packaging solutions, ensuring optimal product protection and compliance with global standards.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Design and develop innovative packaging solutions that optimize product protection, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness across multiple product lines
+ Lead material testing, selection, and validation processes to ensure optimal packaging performance and compliance with industry standards
+ Conduct comprehensive material evaluation and structural analysis to determine best-fit applications for varying product requirements
+ Create and maintain technical documentation including packaging specifications, standard operating procedures, and design guidelines
+ Develop and optimize palletization patterns and distribution packaging strategies for efficient shipping, storage, and material handling
+ Evaluate, specify, and implement packaging automation solutions to improve production efficiency and reduce labor costs
+ Collaborate with automation engineers and cross-functional teams on integrated packaging systems, PLC programming requirements, and equipment specifications
+ Analyze existing packaging processes using data-driven methodologies to identify improvement opportunities, reduce waste, and enhance throughput
+ Coordinate with procurement, quality assurance, and operations teams to ensure timely material delivery, supplier quality, and production continuity
+ Manage packaging projects from concept through implementation, including timeline management and stakeholder communication
Skills, Experience and Requirements
Education & Experience:
+ Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Packaging Science, or related engineering discipline required
Skills and Qualifications:
+ Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience in packaging engineering, packaging development, or related field
+ Proven track record of successful packaging project management and implementation
+ Experience working in a manufacturing or distribution environment preferred
+ Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks, ArtiosCAD, Draftsight, or Adobe Illustrator) with demonstrated ability to create production-ready designs
+ Expert knowledge of ISTA testing procedures, ASTM standards, and packaging validation protocols (ISTA 1A, 2A, 3A, 3E, etc.)
+ Strong understanding of packaging materials including corrugated, plastics, foams, and sustainable alternatives
+ Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) or compression analysis software is a plus
+ Familiarity with packaging automation equipment, conveyor systems, and PLC integration
+ Knowledge of Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies

Salary Ranges
Compensation: $85,000.00/Year - $103,400.00/Year

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location.
