    Job Description Summary

    The Fire Safety and Emergency Response Coordinator (FS&ERC) provides programmatic leadership and management of the Fire Safety and Emergency Response Organization in support of nuclear fuel cycle and radioactive material facility operations; and is responsible for the covering Fire Safety and Emergency Response issues for the GVH and GNF-A operations.

     

    The position reports to the GVH Fire Protection Program Manager and is not a direct supervisory position.

    Job Description

    Essential Responsibilities

    + Coordination of Site Emergency Services, including Fire Suppression, Emergency Medical Services, Hazardous Material Response, Technical Rescue, Severe Weather Preparedness, Evacuation Drills, and other Off Normal conditions.

    + Coordinate Fire Sprinkler Maintenance, either by holding a license or by directing the work of a license holder

    + Coordinate Mutual Aid Response with New Hanover County Fire Services and work with New Hanover Regional Medical Center as the GVH/GNF-A is a licensed Ambulance Provider in the hospital network

    + Coordinate with the Facilities Management Company Fire Technicians to ensure testing and inspections of the site Fire Suppression systems, portable Fire Extinguishers, Fire Hydrants and Risers

    + Ensure Emergency Organization Response members receive initial and continuing training that meets or exceeds regulatory requirements, including maintaining attendance rosters and reporting status through the Fire Protection Genba, as applicable

    + Develop and maintain the ERO training lessons plans, as necessary, and standard operating procedures (SOP) as needed

    Required Qualifications

    + Firefighter 1 and 2 IFSAC

    + HazMat Operations Level IFSAC

    + Level 1 Instructor IFSAC

    + EMT B NC

    + Prior experience with paid or volunteer emergency services at least 10 years of service 3 of those in an officer capacity.

    Eligibility Qualifications

    + For Controlled Access Area: must be able to successfully pass a Nuclear Safety Training Course; follow strict radiation protection, criticality and industrial safety regulations; wear protective clothing to enter the radiological materials area

    + Must be 18 years or older and have legal authorization to work in the United States

    + Ability to walk up and down stairs and lift/carry up to 50 lbs.

    + This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on the ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government

    Desired Characteristics

    + Degree in Fire Science or related field

    + Ability to obtain NC Fire Sprinkler Maintenance License within 12 months

    + Level 2 Instructor IFSAC

    + RT Confined Space IFSAC

    + CPR and First Aid Instructor

    + Experience in inspection, testing and maintenance of fire systems and equipment including response equipment, sprinkler systems, and emergency apparatus.

    + Interpret and understanding of basics of drawings and construction plans.

    + Experience in technical operational safety roles at NRC regulated fuel cycle facilities licensed under 10 CFR 70 and/or 10 CFR 50

    + Able to effectively interface with offsite mutual aid agencies, regulators and other authorities having jurisdiction

    + Ability to communicate complex technical issues and information throughout all levels of the nuclear organization and to nuclear regulators

    + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively interface at all levels of the organization

    + Ability to make decisions with speed and accuracy based on best-available information

    + Demonstrated ability to lead and function calmly and effectively in high-stress situations, including response to site emergencies

    + Significant experience with Fire Protection and Emergency Preparedness programs at an NRC-licensed nuclear facility

    + Familiarity with NFPA, ANI, FM and life safety codes and regulations

    For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $69,500.00 and $104,300.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

     

    Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
