    Job Details:

    The Director of Social Work develops, organizes and directs all aspects of the Social Work Department in accordance with social work standards of practice and current rules, regulations and guidelines, values, and beliefs that govern the institution. Collaborates with administrator, medical staff and other departments incorporating social work into all aspects of the institution. Responsible for coordination and coverage of program counseling and therapeutic programming. The Social Work Department's primary function is to ensure that the psychosocial needs of the patients are met in order for the patients to achieve/maintain their optimal level of health and functioning. Palliative Care will be coordinated with the Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner.

    Responsibilities:

    Coordinates and supervises the employees and activities of the Social Workers, Screeners and counselors. Delivers full range of social work services to patients. Plans and coordinates staff in-service and training. Develops, organizes, implements and evaluates the total social service program in accordance with accepted social work practice and facility policies and procedures. Develops and implements various modalities of social work interventions. Conducts reviews and audits to ensure that documentation is accurate, timely and in accordance with applicable standards, regulations, and requirements. Collaborates with administration staff, medical staff and other departments in planning social worker participation in existing and future services and educational programs, and in formulating policies and procedures in accordance with administrative organization. Participates in Palliative Care activities. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age, specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures. Provides patient care to pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics population. Performs all other duties as assigned. Participates in activities that extend into the community. Participates in development of potential expansion of outpatient Behavioral Health Services.

    Qualifications/Requirements:

    Minimum of two years management or supervisory experience. Minimum of five years of professional clinical experience. Knowledge of individual and group behavior; experience in working with community agencies and knowledge of services they provide. Assessment, counseling and communication skills with the ability to relate to individuals of all ages in a helpful and respectful manner.

    Education:

    Master's Degree in Social Work, LMSW or LCSW certification.

    If applicable, the individual performing this job may reasonably anticipate coming into contact with human blood and other potentially infectious materials. Individuals in this position are required to exercise universal precautions, use personal protective equipment and devices, and learn the policies concerning infection control.
