    Job Description

    Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Our MISSION is to help ensure the security of the United States and its allies by providing high-hazard experimentation and incident response capabilities through operations, engineering, education, field, and integration services and by acting as environmental stewards to the Site’s Cold War legacy.     Responsiblities

     

    The Communications department tells the story of the Nevada National Security Sites (NNSS) to internal and external audiences, shaping our image and advancing our national security mission. This position is an integral part of developing and implementing the internal and external communication strategies for the NNSS, to share that story.

     

    In this role as a Senior Photographer/Videographer (Senior Communications Specialist) you’ll capture and edit photos, video, 360 and virtual media and produce finished photo and video products to aid the NNSS in educating employees and the public about our mission, programs, people and history.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Plans, develops, shoots and edits photos/videos, including developing concepts with the assigned clients, writing scripts, coordinating photo/video shoots with facilities, shooting and editing photos/videos and coordinating approvals.

    + Drafts speaking points and video scripts for executive communication.

    + Collaborate with writers, graphic designers and others to conceptualize and execute media content.

    + Leads video and photo production projects from concept to completion independently with limited oversight.

    + Performs photo/video production project activities.

    + Develops high-quality, compelling video content that tells impactful stories and engages target audiences.

    + Creates, shoots and edits high-quality video and photo content for social media platforms.

    + Ensure project deadlines are met.

    + Demonstrates a technical understanding of video production and photography.

    + Maintains an understanding of requirements for publishing photo and video content to websites and social media platforms and posts approved videos to the NNSS YouTube page.

    + Maintains all photo and video equipment including cameras, camera accessories, hard drives, data cards, computers, laptops and studio equipment.

    + Helps maintain photo/video archive.

    + Provides support on other photo/video projects as needed.

    + Adjusts schedule as needed to support work, including occasional weekend work.

    + Participates in Emergency Public Information program as a member of the Joint Information Center cadre.

    + Possesses ability and willingness to mentor emerging team members.

    + Additional responsibilities as assigned.

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and experience with at least 5 years professional experience.

    + **Preferred Education and Experience:** Bachelor’s degree in a videography-related field and at least 5 years of professional-level experience with videography, photography, pre-to-postproduction, editing and lighting, or a related field, or equivalent training and experience.

    + Proficient knowledge of video production and photography.

    + Knowledge of studio and location production procedures.

    + Demonstrated ability to professionally edit video using all non-linear editing systems including Avid, Final Cut and Adobe Creative Cloud.

    + Ability to shoot and edit Virtual reality (VR) is desired; willingness to learn is a must.

    + Demonstrated knowledge and ability to professionally edit photographs using Adobe Creative Cloud.

    + Demonstrated knowledge of digital single-lens reflex camera (digital SLR or DSLR) and mirrorless cameras, video camcorders, digital audio recorders and other devices used to capture audio/video/photo.

    + Knowledge and understanding of NNSS programs, activities and organizations (must be able and willing to learn).

    + Ability to organize, track, balance and prioritize multiple projects of various sizes.

    + Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with employees, managers, customers, vendors, etc.

    + Ability to work independently and with a team.

    + Ability to monitor and measure performance.

    + Ability to solve problems.

    + Demonstrated ability to produce, write and shoot videos.

    + Willingness to learn emerging media and new editing and production techniques.

    + Physical ability to move and hold recording equipment for long periods in various environments.

    + Ability and willingness to travel, as needed.

    + The primary work locations are the North Las Vegas facility and the Nevada National Security Site (located 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada).

    + Work schedule for this position will be 4/10s, Monday – Thursday (subject to change).

    + Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

    + Must possess a valid driver’s license.

     

    MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants offered employment with MSTS are also subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment. In addition, Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years of age. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

     

    **Department of Energy Q Clearance** (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4 (http://www.ecfr.gov/cgi-bin/text-idx?SID=14b1c770db022992d237769fbe9fc519&mc=true&node=se10.4.707\_14&rgn=div8) , “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted. Applicant selected will be subject to a federal background investigation, required to participate in subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matters. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required.     Annual salary range for this position is: **$78,832.00 - $118,248.00**

     

    Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
