Division: Superform
Reports To: Quality Manager
Luxfer Superform operates from Riverside, California (USA). We specialize in Super Plastic Forming of Aluminum, Titanium and Magnesium alloys as a 1st Tier supplier to major OEM's. Established in California since 1985, Superform serves Customers in all the major markets including Aerospace.
SUMMARY:
Provide, implement, and administer Quality functions to ensure the most effective and economical product reliability and conformance to engineering and customer specifications. Efficiently and effectively oversee the Romer Arm, CMM and daily production inspection departments. Prioritize daily inspection requirements in accordance with production and customer requirements. Oversee receiving inspection and supplier performance. Ensure Superform’s calibration system is being maintained and updated at all times. Work with production, engineering and the shop floor in creating and updating manufacturing work instructions (MWI’s). Take the lead in Romer Arm and CMM inspections.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include, but, are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.
+ Assist Engineering in the design of gages and inspection media to support in-process and final inspections.
+ Provide technical assistance to all quality systems (ISO9001, AS9100).
+ Review all manufacturing routings in conjunction with all other related documents.
+ As required, shall undertake inspection work including, but not limited to:
+ First Article Inspections
+ Tooling Inspection
+ In process Inspection
+ Rejection Reports
+ Customer Source Inspections
+ Supplier Source Inspections
+ Shall provide support in the coordination of production and quality planning for all new customer orders. This shall require the following:
+ Assist Quality Manager with review of purchase orders, blueprints, specifications and other related documents in liaison with production and engineering functions so that contract requirements can be translated into a comprehensive working format.
+ In coordination with the Quality Manager develop and implement quality operations for preproduction through to full production.
+ When required by contract, assist Quality Manager with identifying critical process steps, specifications, etc., so that quality planning meets customer requirements.
+ Identify and maintain key characteristics of parts and KPI’s.
+ Be able to observe processes, gather background data and develop process flow charts.
+ Provide technical assistance and guidance to Manufacturing and Engineering in the development of tooling and gages.
+ Assist Quality Manager in liaison activities between Sales, Manufacturing, Engineering suppliers and customers.
+ Ensure first-time quality product through the implementation of quality control checks at all stages of production.
+ Explore both traditional and nontraditional manufacturing processes to reduce cost and/or improve product quality through the use of equipment and methods best suited for particular programs.
+ Assist in the manufacturing flow of new and existing programs from a technical perspective and/or in any area requiring attention in order to expedite the manufacturing of product.
+ Conduct periodic training sessions to keep personnel informed on procedures, methods, use of equipment and other quality/manufacturing techniques.
+ Assist Quality Manager in establishing procedures that will properly detail the inspection of component parts.
+ Will be able to assist in developing, maintaining and interpreting variable and attribute SPC charts and create diagrams (cause and effect, scatter, process flow, pareto).
+ Coaching, leading, mentoring and facilitating within the Quality Department.

+ To undertake any other duties as may be required and participate as & when necessary, in Company initiatives and projects.
+ Undertake additional training to develop skills as company requires.

+ Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including OSHA, EPA, State and Federal Regulations.
+ Importantly, as Superform’s success relies on the productivity of our team and adherence to customer product schedules, an essential function of this position is the ability to arrive to work on-time, as scheduled, in strict adherence to the Time and Attendance Rules Policy.

+ Involve and communicate with Engineering, Production and Logistics to improve problem solving and develop work instructions and practices.
+ Allocating and managing staff resources according to the ever-changing needs of the organization

+ Support Quality Concern/ Corrective actions.
+ Process discipline and product auditing.
+ Coordinate scrap investigation and corrective actions.
+ Attendance at scrap review meetings.
+ First article inspections in accordance with AS9102.
+ Creating and updating manufacturing work instructions (MWI,s).
OBJECTIVES:
Objectives are issued separately from the Job Description. As a collaborative effort between Superform and the employee, objectives are reviewed, agreed and amended annually in alignment with strategic objectives.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
+ Individual will have a basic knowledge and understanding of statistical process control. Will be able to develop, maintain and interpret variable and attribute data. Must be self-motivated individual who can interface well with fellow employees and take instructions as well as give them. In addition to the aforementioned requirements, this person shall have the ability of an inspector and be able to work to aerospace blueprints, mylars, etc. Also, shall possess a solid background in calculating and measuring as needed for the inspection of sheet metal parts.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
+ AA Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent years of experience.
+ Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working in quality in an Aerospace environment.
+ Must be familiar with safety requirements in the manufacturing area.
+ Individual will have a basic knowledge and understanding of statistical process control.
+ Shall possess a solid background in calculating and measuring as needed for the inspection of sheet metal parts.
+ Shall have the ability of an inspector and be able to work to aerospace blueprints, mylars, etc.
+ Proficiency in the interpretation of specifications and engineering drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
+ Understanding tolerancing per ANSI Y 14.5.
+ Must be able to deal effectively with suppliers, management, customers and shop personnel.

+ Pay: 30-35/HR
+ Monday – Friday (5:30am-2pm Monday-Friday + occasional overtime on Saturday's)
