Under the direction of the supervisor, coordinates the operation of the blood bank section of the Clinical Laboratory. Duties include but are not limited to: selection, orientation and training of staff, quality control activities, quality improvement activities and the capability to perform all testing of donors and patients. Requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent (minimum of 36 hours in chemical and biological sciences) and at least one year of related work experience or an Associate's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent and at least two years of related work experience . Five ( 5) years experience in all technical phases of a transfusion service operation including advanced antibody investigations and cross match techniques. SBB Certification preferred. MT/ MLS (ASCP), CLS (NCA), MLT (ASCP) or equivalent preferred. Eligible for ASCP certification required. Functional experience with common Blood Bank analyzers and laboratory information systems, including P.C.’s.
