Senior Staff Accountant (Healthcare Finance)

Why this role matters

We’re looking for a service-driven accounting professional to be the bridge between Finance and the rest of the organization. You’ll keep month-end tight, capitation reconciliations accurate, and client/provider communication clear—so our leaders can focus on growth. This is a backfill (our VP is currently doing two jobs), and we’re ready to move fast for the right person.

What you’ll do

+ Serve as the liaison between Finance and cross-functional partners; communicate clearly with clients and providers as needed.

+ Own monthly financial statements—prepare accurately and deliver on time.

+ Reconcile monthly capitation reports from health plans.

+ Prepare monthly journal entries and workpapers; support a rigorous, GAAP-compliant close.

+ Run weekly/monthly check runs for assigned clients.

+ Partner closely with internal teams to troubleshoot and resolve Finance-related issues.

+ Mentor and train junior staff as assigned; potential to assume supervisory responsibilities as the department grows.

What success looks like

+ 30 days: You understand client portfolios, close cadence, and our capitation reporting rhythms. You’re reliably running assigned check runs.

+ 60 days: Month-end is smooth under your ownership; your reconciliations are clean and timely; partners see you as a go-to problem solver.

+ 90 days: You’re driving improvements to close timelines and cross-team communication; you’re actively mentoring junior staff and preparing for future supervisory scope.

What we’re looking for

Must-haves

+ Associate’s degree (or higher) in Accounting or Finance preferred.

+ 3–5 years of accounting/finance experience.

+ Strong foundation in GAAP accounting.

+ Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance (light local travel as needed).

+ Track record of employment stability and positive references.

+ Service mindset, outstanding communication, and the ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment.

+ Accuracy and attention to detail, with a no‑task‑too‑small approach.

Nice-to-haves

+ Healthcare accounting experience (capitation exposure is a plus).

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $71000.00 - $82000.00/yr.
