    This position requires the management of hazardous waste, which may include, but is not limited to, making waste determinations, profiling waste with TSDF, labeling hazardous waste containers, container management (e.g. inspections), and release clean up/emergency response.

     

    Assume the role of Incident Commander (as defined in the Emergency Response Plan) during any type of emergency situation. Prompt notification of proper authorities (internal and external) in case of emergencies.

    Supervisory responsibilities

    This position has direct supervisory responsibilities.

     

    Conduct performance evaluations for assigned subordinates, giving positive and constructive feedback.

    Essential job duties

    Provide training for Chemical Operators. Typical training subjects include Good Documentation Practices when completing GMP related documents such as Master Batch Records, SOP and Operating Manual requirements, equipment operation, change control and Process Safety Management information. Continually evaluate training programs to improve comprehension of training material.

     

    Ensure operators are aware of any new changes in procedures and/or equipment and have been properly trained on the changes.

     

    Ensure compliance with all safety rules, procedures, batch records and work instruction through constant reinforcement of expectations for strict compliance.

     

    Troubleshoot and resolve process and equipment problems as they arise, following all appropriate safety and GMP procedures. Coordinate with maintenance for timely resolution of operational issues.

     

    Constant monitoring of plant conditions and operator actions to ensure safe operation.

     

    Be proficient with the SAP computer software for proper work order entry, raw material ordering notification, scheduling of production runs, printing of batch sheets.

     

    Investigate and document root cause of any “out of specification” batches, safety incidents, process or equipment failure.

     

    Review production batch sheets daily for accuracy. Re-train chemical operators as needed to achieve error free batch sheets.

     

    Appropriately communicate with other departments to ensure operational issues are resolved efficiently and effectively. Maintain communications with Production Manager(s) to ensure staff is updated and aware of plant status and problems. Provide an accurate daily production report and updated production projection.

     

    Issue hot work permits and vessel entry permits as required.

     

    Initiate, review, and complete Change Control documentation as needed to maintain cGMP and OSHA compliance at the plant site.

     

    Education, experience, certification and licensures Required

    High School Diploma

    5 years of relative experience in a Production facility.

     

    Demonstrated leadership capabilities.

     

    Preferred

     

    FDA, EPA, and OSHA regulated chemicals manufacturing highly preferred

     

    Knowledge, skills and abilities

     

    Ability to work a 12 hour shift and cover shifts when needed due to shift vacancies

     

    Good written and verbal communication skills and team oriented management skills.

     

    The ability to properly prioritize simultaneous events, by planning ahead and maximizing efficiency of resources.

     

    Proficient in the use of MS Outlook, Excel, Power Point

     

    Familiarity with SAP, Factory Talk/Process Control Systems, AIMS, and other software to assist in day-to-day activities.

Specific vision abilities required in this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

    While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to enter the production area of a typical manufacturing facility which has moving mechanical parts, and may have fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat, wet and /or humid conditions, low levels of toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the environment is usually moderate.
