    Join Our Team as a Full-Time Phlebotomist at UPMC Community Osteopathic!

     

    UPMC Community Osteopathic is hiring a dedicated Phlebotomist to join our daylight shift team (every 3rd weekend and holiday). In this role, you'll perform accurate inpatient and outpatient specimen collection that supports essential diagnostic testing. You'll also help keep the lab running smoothly through basic computer, courier, and clerical tasks-working closely with and under the supervision of our Medical Technologists.

    Responsibilities:

    + Provide courteous, professional customer service and timely phone support.

    + Collect blood specimens via venipuncture, heel stick, and fingerstick; instruct patients on self-collection when needed.

    + Demonstrate reliability, sound judgment, and the ability to prioritize department needs.

    + Collect and safely transport specimens from on-site and off-site locations.

    + Follow all lab and hospital policies, including safety, quality, and infection-control procedures.

    + Perform clerical and computer tasks such as entering demographics, managing test orders, and verifying sample identity.

    + Train and orient new staff, students, and residents as assigned.

    + Report unusual or problematic incidents to technical or supervisory staff.

    + Perform arterial punctures following strict guidelines when required.

    + Maintain and monitor supplies, using materials efficiently and responsibly.

    + High school diploma or equivalent is required.

    + Certification from an accredited Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant program is preferred.

    + Minimum 6 months experience performing phlebotomy is preferred.

    + Medical terminology knowledge and laboratory information system experience preferred.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:Phlebotomy Technician (PBT(ASCP)) or equivalent certification preferred.

    + Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal

    + Act 33 with renewal

    + Act 34 with renewal

    + Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
