Job Duties & Accountabilities:
Plan, coordinate and direct the activities of the Maintenance Team in the maintenance and repair of T-45 aircraft in support of flight training operations.
Perform management analysis and workload planning to ensure that customer service and company goals are met. These include, but are not limited to estimating/tracking of conditional maintenance, modifications, ISR efforts to achieve established budget, schedule and quality goals.
Interface with the customer to assure their needs are met.
Team with the Quality Manager to analyze maintenance data to identify trends and deficiencies.
Evaluate existing methods, systems and potential improvements for compliance to maintenance and flight schedule requirements and ensure cost effectiveness, productivity and personnel safety.
Maintain various forms of data and records in support of periodic required reports.
Submit to the Site Manager any recommendations for manpower, materials, facilities and capital equipment.
Serve as the Company’s focal point for FOD matters on this contract.
Actively support the Company’s Safety philosophy and programs. Investigate all accidents and injuries of assigned personnel and take action to prevent similar incidents.
When off site emergency repairs of aircraft are needed, determine and coordinate the most feasible means to obtain repairs.
Prepare cost estimates and obtain government approval for conditional maintenance repairs, ISR over and above repairs, and depot-level repairs.
Advise the Site Manager of the status of work in progress and coordinate with other departments as required to accomplish tasks.
Interview, select and train new employees.
Instruct assigned employees on proper methods and procedures as required.
Investigate and resolve employee’s complaints. Be thoroughly familiar with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and resolve Step 2 grievances in accordance with the CBA.
Be thoroughly familiar with and support Company policies and procedures.
Discipline employees as needed to enforce Company policies, directives and CBA requirements following progressive disciplinary procedures.
Comply with Hazardous Waste Program.
Responsible for enforcement of the Tool Control Program.
Responsible for enforcement of the Company’s FOD prevention rules and regulations.
Enforce all Company and Government regulations to ensure personnel safety and the security and preservation of Government and Company-owned equipment.
Ensure compliance with required Quality Control policies and inspections.
Assist in the Training Program as required for employees.
Must be customer oriented.
Perform other reasonably related incidental duties when directed within the job classification.
Qualification Standards:
The Maintenance Manager shall possess an extensive background in the field of aircraft maintenance and material support with a minimum of a high school diploma and fourteen (14) years experience within the last 15 years in direct aircraft maintenance repair, inspection, and modification. Of the last ten (10) year’s experience in aircraft maintenance, six (6) years shall be in a supervisory position that included responsibility for assigning program workloads as well as duties for entire shifts, OR Associates degree with 8 years experience, four (4) years shall be in a supervisory position, OR Bachelors degree with six (6) years experience.
The Maintenance Manager shall have experience supervising daily flight operations and personnel supporting scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. All supervisors must be knowledgeable of technical directives and COMNAVAIRFOR INST 4790.2 series; be knowledgeable of and understand basic supply procedures; possess a working knowledge of applicable aircraft and shall have worked a minimum of one (1) year in a maintenance/production control position. All supervisors shall have experience writing with clarity and technical accuracy.
The Maintenance Manager shall also:
Possess a good working knowledge of material procedures and the Naval Aviation Supply System.
Possess the necessary leadership and management skills to direct the assigned Maintenance personnel to comply with established policies, procedures and operations to support the Navy's T 45 Flight Training Program.
In-depth knowledge of Government contracts, Company organization and policies.
Ability to manage assigned programs with effective communication and organizational skills.
Must be able to obtain a level of security clearance required by the Government. Must have a valid state driver’s license.
Physical Demands:
This classification activity is usually accomplished in a office/hangar/flight line environment and as such requires the scope of physical movements and postures normally associated with office/hangar/flight line activities. May be required to lift objects whose weight normally will not exceed 50 pounds. Special vision abilities required to perform this job are close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus.
Work Environment:
The diversity of work conditions may range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject individual to severe changes of temperature, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. May be exposed to electrical shock hazards. May work near moving mechanical parts.
