Job Description
Insight Global is assisting a client in identifying a hands-on Infrastructure Operations Manager to lead a highly technical team responsible for the full lifecycle of compute, storage, backup, and disaster recovery operations. This role is ideal for candidates who thrive in an in-house, data center-focused environment and are passionate about operational excellence, technical innovation, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead a team of 4 onshore and 2 offshore engineers in day-to-day operations, solutioning, design, and execution of infrastructure projects.
• Oversee all aspects of compute, storage, backup, and disaster recovery, with 80% of workloads on-premises.
• Direct responsibility for provisioning, racking, and swapping hardware in data centers.
• Maintain and optimize a 100% virtualized VMware environment (latest version required).
• Manage Dell hardware for compute, storage, and backup.
• Ensure operational excellence: 60-65% daily operations (ServiceNow requests, incident/change management), 20-25% operational enhancements, 10% innovation.
• Own the run and operations of the environment, with some involvement in design and engineering.
• No outsourcing—team executes all work internally.
• Support quarterly data center visits (Houston, Alpharetta).
• Comfortable with on-call escalation and incident response.

Skills and Requirements
• 8-10 years of hands-on infrastructure experience.
• Deep expertise in computer storage, backup, and disaster recovery.
• Proven experience with VMware (latest version, large-scale virtualized environments).
• SCCM experience for vulnerability and risk management (patching, maintenance).
• Demonstrated ability to optimize operational processes and drive enhancements.
• Comfortable with hands-on technical work, including hardware provisioning and troubleshooting.
• Strong familiarity with Dell hardware and products.
• Experience or desire to lead small, technical teams (not focused on broad management).
• Strong communication and organizational skills. • Experience with ServiceNow or similar ITSM platforms.
• Exposure to quarterly data center operations and travel.
• Ability to identify and implement operational improvements and innovations.
