    Job Details:

    The Mental Health Therapist delivers direct mental health services to clients and their families. They may provide individual, couples, group, and family services. The outpatient therapist ensures all treatments are delivered within the scope of the therapist's training experience and general level of competence. The outpatient therapist will work accordingly with the multi-disciplinary team in regards to their caseload. She serves as a professional role model, mentor and clinical resource/educator to the other members of the clinical team. Develops goals and objectives and improves patient outcomes and create a culture of excellence.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Provides individual, couples, group, family or marital therapy ranging from children to adults.

    + Prepares and completes comprehensive mental health evaluations in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team.

    + Maintains close communication with psychiatric staff regarding Client's needs.

    + Facilitate and implement new groups which are needed within the community.

    + The groups will include: wellness groups, smoking cessation groups, co-occurring groups, coping skills, family therapy groups, bariatric support groups and crisis plan groups.

    + Ability to communicate effectively with professionals and clients/families.

    + Ability to make sound, ethical decisions in emergency situations.

    + Ability to evaluate the client for potential risks.

    + Provide assessments that include the development of clinical impressions and treatment plans with involvement of the patient's support system.

    + Daily clinical documentation and treatment for each client under the OMH 599 regulations and joint commission regulations.

    + Will provide therapy that includes goal oriented and empirically based models for individual, group and families.

    + Establishes and maintains effective working relationships within the community and referral sources.

    + Coordinates with school system to coordinate client care.

    QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

    Minimum of 2 years working in a Clinical Behavioral Health setting post master's degree. Demonstrate knowledge/competency of DSM 5. Must have excellent communication/interpersonal skills. Must have knowledge of evidence-based practice modalities.

     

    EDUCATION: Masters in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling from an accredited school.

     

    Licenses: New York State LMSW, LCSW, Licensed Masters Mental Health Counselor LMHC.

    If applicable, the individual performing this job may reasonably anticipate coming into contact with human blood and other potentially infectious materials. Individuals in this position are required to exercise universal precautions, use personal protective equipment and devices, and learn the policies concerning infection control.
