    The Minnesota Board of Pharmacy exists to promote, preserve, and protect the public health, safety, and welfare by fostering the safe distribution of pharmaceuticals and the provisions of quality pharmaceutical care for the citizens of Minnesota.

     

    This position exists to provide intermediate level administrative support to a complex state licensing program that encompasses multiple areas of responsibilities and handles a variety of administrative duties that require independent actions based on standard procedures and handle non-routine situations through the interpretation of board policies and best practices. Skills which are both comprehensive and technical in nature are vital for this position. This position will manage their workload and prioritize responsibilities in order to approve licenses and payments in a timely and accurate manner. This position assists in the licensing of non-residential pharmacies, manufacturers and wholesalers by conducting license verification activities; assists in the licensing of facilities and of individual licensees and registrants by reviewing and setting up applications for licensure or registration of facilities, pharmacists, technicians, and pharmacist-interns; and to fulfill other specific duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Board executive director, deputy director and supervisor.

     

    This position is eligible for up to a 50% hybrid telework arrangement. With a telework agreement, onsite attendance will be required for team meetings or as requested by management to meet business needs. Completion of a telework agreement will be required.     Minimum Qualifications

    + Knowledge of communications sufficient to: (1) read, explain, and interpret a variety of materials; (2) follow detailed instructions and explain complex processes to customers; and (3) write, prepare, and edit materials, using correct spelling, punctuation, grammar, and sentence construction.

    + Customer service skills sufficient to: (1) perform the duties with politeness, respect, and interest in positive problem solving; (2) provide prompt and accurate information to customers in person, on the phone, and through email and other written or electronic correspondence; and (3) respond effectively to clients, coworkers, and customers.

    + Data entry skills sufficient to create database records, update database entries, and retrieve and analyze database records.

    + Spreadsheet skills (i.e., Microsoft Excel) sufficient to develop and modify spreadsheets and sort, filter, sum and extract data.

    + Word processing skills sufficient to develop and modify a variety of forms, correspondence, and reference materials.

    + Typing/keyboarding skills sufficient to accurately enter data to process a variety of reports and data summaries.

    + Math skills sufficient to handle receipts, calculate fees, and accurately process financial transaction to include checks and other methods of payments.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Ability to: (1) learn how to establish, maintain, and use electronic databases; and (2) compile, research, and analyze information from databases.

    + Ability to evaluate application materials and facilitate the application process.

    + Experience in pharmacy operations or related field (such as a pharmacy technician).

    + Experience explaining rules, standards, policy, and procedures to clients.

    + Experience reviewing documents for accuracy and identify discrepancies.

    + Experience collaborating in a team environment.

    + Critical thinking skills to recognize the importance and relevance of unique information and apply the correct policy and procedures for the desired outcome.

    + Ability to multitask, organize and prioritize work, and meet demands of workload with frequent interruptions.

    + Proficient in the use of technology and software including Microsoft Office Suite, multi-line phones, and databases.
